A very appealing guitar featured

Sound This guitar not only got me sold based on its looks but on its playability as well. Back in high school, I had always admired my guitar teacher's ovation (it was a balladeer), and what attracted me to the brand was the fact that there were no pins holding the strings to the guitar bridge!

The sound of this guitar is somewhere between a hollow body guitar and an acoustic guitar, leaning more on the acoustic but sort of sounding like a hollow body when plugged in and definitely sounding like an acoustic when unplugged.

Although this is no Martin, the guitar holds its own unique tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish The finish on the guitar is nice. The top is finished in a cherry sunburst, although Ovation calls it "New England Burst". The neck is tung oiled and it feels like a joy to play, due to the fact that there's no finish on it. The fretboard is bare and has no inlays of any kind on it. When I bought the guitar, I didn't have to have it setup because they come pretty well setup from the factory.

I changed the strings on it and put blue steel electric strings on it, lowered the bridge by removing the shims and then the guitar became even easier to play because the action was nice and low for an acoustic guitar.

Reliability & Durability I've had this guitar since '95 have not had any problems with it.

Customer Support I've called Ovation in the past to inquire about the strap buttons that were originally outfitted in the guitar and they were able to trace what was installed on the guitar while I was on the phone with them.

Liked about it The bridge
The design
The reputation of the brand

Didn't like The fact that the guitar didn't come with a case when I bought it new and this is an Elite we're talking about.
The fact that I didn't get the straplocks that would come with the guitar (they are dunlop straplocks outfitted at the factory) when I purchased it.
A case would've been nice....
