I got this dvd hoping to have a slowed down lesson of all the songs on it. It does very well at breaking things up into parts and teaching theory and technique along side the notes. Mr. Gill is very good and an accomplished player and I did learn several things watching and playing along with the dvd. Unfortunately, it could've been a lot better.

1. Simple lessons with songs broken down into parts.
2. Concise teaching of technique and theory with demonstration of the applications in particular songs.

1. No full audio track of the songs to practice and work on what you learned. Taking this a step further, it would've been nice to have had the tracks running at full speed and another running at pitch but only 1/2 or 3/4 so that you could really work on being able to put everything together.
2. There are some melodies or parts of songs that he just skips.
3. As someone else commented, a book with tabs alongside the dvd would've been really good for those who learn better by seeing the sheet music than by just watching someone play.

I loved the videos the guitarist is a very good tutor and does show you the tunes accurately.

No screen or written tab so you have to buy the tab separately to follow along if you are not pro or a scholled musician.

A good look at Satriani's style

Danny Gill does a step-by-step break down 6 popular songs from Satriani: "Surfing With the Alien", "The Crush of Love", "Midnight", "Satch Boogie", "The Extremist", and "Always With Me, Always With You". Gill walks you through each song at regular speed, at slow speed, as well as breaking down each phrase into small chunks at a slow pace so that you can learn the styles and techniques of Joe Satriani.
The DVD set itself is top quality. Video is top notch, sound is top notch.
Danny Gill is a former GIT instructor as well as a former student of Joe Satriani. He's been signed to several big labels and toured with some of the biggest bands in Rock. He's also written 5 instructional books and over 35 instructional DVD's.

Danny Gill is a skilled instructor that understands how to take difficult passages and make them learnable for any student. The DVD set is 3 hours long which means about 30min. is dedicated to each song. Seeing each song at full speed, slow speed and broken down into small, slow chunks makes learning the styles and techniques of Satriani very easy.

The DVD set does not include a booklet with tabulature. Although this isn't completely necessary to learn the songs in the DVD set, it would've been a nice addition.
