D'Addario EXL130+ Nickel XL Electric Guitar Strings
|
Part of D'Addario's fairly-new "Plus" series of in-between string gauges, the EXL130+ set provides the feel of .008's with the stability of .009's.

Finally, strings for me!!!

If I had my choice I'd play .008's universally, but most times the hassle of setting up a floating tremolo for different gauge strings is not worth it. Now, with the .0085 gauge strings the difference is minimized so that the difference in string tension is similar enough that the re-floating of the trem is worth the trade off. The strings have all the great feel and playability of a .008 set with the stability and sound of a .009 set. An excellent fit for the player who likes the feel of thinner strings but the sound of thicker strings.

The feel of thinner strings with the stability of thicker strings.
No "price penalty" for a "Custom set" -- looks to be a standard offering for D'Addario moving forward.
Easy to transition from either .008's or .009's.

Tensions are dissimilar enough that you still need to reset a floating trem.
