A very underrated beast

Now I have always wanted to try one of these, but my buddy took some time to take one into the shop, and now I find myself actually wanting to buy it.
The construction of the guitar gives it a very good sustain which surpasses my Les Paul even. It is not as warm as the Les Paul, but has an Ibanezy tone to it, with a snappy attack. Combine that with D-Activators and you have a true beast in your hands. It plays very well and the wizard II neck is awesome to play and feels very comfy. The pups are high output so this asks for rock and metal. So we took out the heavy strings and drop tuned it in several steps through a Warp Head with heavy distortion. Hello metal heaven! Sounds awesome. But we also wanted to test if it can do other things, so back to the light strings and standard tuning and put it through the twin reverb. While it is still high output and you have to finetune the EQ it can also do that. It has a surprisingly warm character and even puts out nice clean sounds, if your amp has the headroom. So we put it on the clean of a JSX, that has a lot of headroom and voila it was as tender as can be.
So while it may be a bit picky on which amp to use, this guitar can do it. It definately has its own character that it regains through all the genres. We did some vintagy blue, to Tom Petty up to Petrucci sounds right around Slipknot tunes and it can do it all.
What a fine guitar for a neat price.

This was to be expected from a guitar at this price tag, we tuned the setup a lot. Intonation had to be setup and also string action was not where you want it. However it was quite easy to do the setup and after the tweaking the setup was easy to maintain, as with most fixed bridge guitars. The tuners are very nice though and stable.
The finish of the guitar is ok for the price tag and you could critizise some minor things on it, but then you would have to pay some more cash...
Still for the price tag I give it full points.

Rhytm Guitar

I play a bit of everything, and this is my work-horse guitar. Strung with 10's and played through Randall RG50TC and DigiTech Whammy. I needed a decent fixed bridge guitar to use for drop tunings, not too expensive. I always liked the Iceman shape, and I saw it came with D-Activators, I just HAD to buy it. With its massive shape, fixed bridge and neck-through construction, this guitar has loads of sustain, and even unplugged, it gives back great volume when played. with the clean sounds it simply does its work, not bad, but not definitely something unbelievably good. the 3-way switch with the D's doesn't give much versatility, but, as for me, I don't care, I have the Jem for that. If you're searching for a good rhytm sounding guitar, you've found it. on crunch sounds the guitar is really well-sounding, giving back a good rock tone. with the distorted sounds the tone is great. the response of the low frequencies it's stunning, and the definition of the sound is good, even with drop tunings. the bridge pickup really screams, and you can get great sounding riffs from it. the neck pickup lacks something, but it's not bad at all. If you don't like it at all, the price of the guitar would allow a substitution without regrets. In conclusion: it's not a shred/soloing guitar, and it's not a MIJ Ibanez, the review is compared to its price category. It's a great sounding guitar for rhytmic playing, not so versatile but good.

The action was great, and the guitar needed just a little of intonation adjusting. the gibraltar custom bridge is not complex to setup. the guitar comes with all the pegs for it, and even a jack cable. For the neck, it's a personal question. Wizard II neck is good for me, I find it comfortable and I really like it. the finish has a bit of issues, the binding is poor (painted, not a real binding). I could change the tuners for some locking tuners, because i often change tuning with this guitar and sometimes it goes out of tune.
