Santana on STEROIDS featured

Sound The sound of this one is amazing, Whether through my marshall, mesa or one of my fenders it has that harmonically rich tone you hear in Santana and slash's playing mixed with a Van Halen 1 tone. Very high output breed pickups that definitely do basswood justice. I have 3 Jem's and this one has a tone of it's own. Great for classic rock to metal but didn't work quite as well as a country guitar, I think it was too sonically rich for country and you have trouble getting the thin twangy tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish I was playing my 15th anniversary Jem at the shop when the salesman handed me one of these. I had seen the DBK before but didn't like the look much so I hadn't played one. after playing that one I almost didn't get the floral. luckily I found a used DBK a while later. One of the thinnest jem necks in the later models which to me feels like the original 87 jem release neck. Made well and had a couple dings when I got it but it has held up with no cracks or finish problems. Very low action and plays extremely well.. If you like the feel of the old ibanez guitars, you'll like this one.

Reliability & Durability Got it used with a couple dings but has lasted very well since I got it. No problems and not even chipping around the edges. Stays in Tune very well. No problems with neck pocket, trem is very stable when using it a lot and goes back into tune. Everything you want from this type of guitar action, fit and finish is GREAT.

Customer Support Not too many times I've had to call Ibanez but when I did it was hit and miss. They asked for a serial number after I gave them a year and model # and then sent me the wrong part, but sent the new one later when I called to ask why the part didn't fit. I'd have to give them a "B" for customer support. recently they've changed part numbers which also makes it hard to order parts...

Liked about it I love the tone with that harmonically rich sound that has lots of overtones in the basswood body.
I love the feel of the old ibanez (original wizard) necks and this one is pretty darn close to the same.
Great trem with locking studs stays in tune well. Comfortable to play all night...
Now I try to play every guitar I can even if I don't like the cosmetics

Didn't like Didn't like the cosmetics at all which almost kept me from ever trying one. From the textrued finish to the simulated screw dots and mirror pickguard (changed the guard)

THIS IS AN AMAZING INSTRUMENT featured

Sound This guitar is freakin' amazing! it's no wonder that Steve Vai used this model on "Visual Sound Theories".
It sounds great through every amp i've ever played it through (and that is A HUGE~ list).
The POWERHOUSE Dimarzio Breeds push this guitar over the top. The single coil custom Dimarzio is the best single coil i've ever played...

Action, Fit, & Finish The Finish on this guitar stays on better than i thought it ever would...

Reliability & Durability This is the most reliable guitar i've ever owned... PERIOD. you can set it in a case for months and it stays in perfect tune.

Liked about it EVERYTHING!!!!
The Lightness of the guitar
The amazingly thin neck
The freakin' great bridge! now i know why steve changes all of his jem bridges to Lo-Pros.

Didn't like I Didn't like the AANJ (All access neck joint). I've always liked the huge square neck joints on the older RG's. but most people love these neck joints so there's nothing negative about it.

Hidden Treasure

Sound The interesting aspect souundwise of the 7DBK is breed pickups. Most Jems are fitted with the PAF Pro or Evolution combination so this combination is unique. The sound is a nice raw, yet highly complex, sonic onslaught. I feel that the sound of this guitar certainly lends itself towards rock hard rock sounds over jazz / blues sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish The action on my guitar was fine when I received it, I am assuming that it is a factory set up.

Reliability & Durability The guitar has proven to be a reliable rocker. The textured finish is quite easy to repair in the event of any dents or dings. The Ibanez tremelo system has had no issues with it whatsoever.

Liked about it 1. The textured finish - at first I thought that it was a bit weird but it grows on you and looks awesome on stage
2. The neck is sublime - very old school late eighties RG (wizard) neck.
3. The fact that it is very under stated in looks yet is a players dream

Didn't like 1. People who bag this guitar based on looks alone
2. There really is not much to not like about this guitar!

A Perfect JEM !!!

Sound Breed pickups sound great and keep it clear even when distorted. The Hum Single Hum pickup combo is great for a multitude of tones. If you play rock (70's to now), metal and other guitar oriented music this should be your guitar. Played through any amp this thing sounds great, as well if you are an effects user it just makes this axe come alive.

Action, Fit, & Finish Guitar was amazing right out the box and with 9-42's it was just so easy to play. The finish often refered to as "rhino skin" is truly amazing and incredibly durable. Add to that the mirrored pickguard and this thing screams rock axe!

Reliability & Durability The Jem7dbk is the sleeper amongst the Ibanez Jem guitars. This guitar plays well, stays in tune even when using the trem heavily. It feels solid and is built to last. Mine still looks great and plays like the day I got it.

Customer Support Never had need to deal with the company directly.

Liked about it 1. The finish and the neck. "Rhino Skin" & Screw Head Inlays (6105 frets).
2. Breed Pickups sound great.
3. Edge Pro Bridge. Stays in tune no matter what.

Didn't like Mirrored pickgaurd shows pick scratches but can be polished out.
