Vintage Advantage?
| Sound |
Now this is one of the few Fenders that really really sound as advertised. This guitar just has a beatiful single coil tone in all the positions and you can recreate some vintage dreams here.
Although the Singles add some noise it can be well used also at higher distortions and you can get nice Blackmoore sounds out of it. It has just the right amount of sparkle and push for me at least. Some purists may want a maple fingerboard etc. but I actually like the slight softness of the used materials in this modell, that do not really take away the twang but tame it a little.

| Action, Fit, & Finish |
Now overall the finish and workmanship in this guitar is excellent and the factory setup, while slightly conservative was nicely done and easy playable.
Now while the vintage trem and tuners do add to the vintage touch of the guitar, I wished that Fender or Knopfler would update the design. Tuning stability was not what you expect from a modern instrument and some better locking tuners would help a lot (and prolly not degrade the tone). For the purist of course, this is it. The guitar cries vintage and vintage is what you get.
