An axe with a dull blade!
| Sound |
The sound that this guitar can create is limited by the now aging and slowly diminishing quality of the v7/s1/V8 trio. The bridge delivers a slight crisp punch. It is capable of producing a bassy crunch too, but it is more subtle. The neck pick up is very nice and i have no major complaints. The middle S1 is perfect for playing clean licks and a lot of strumming action. However, looking beyond that, the basswood combined with the Edge pro tremolo provide an incredible amount of sustain, especially for a bolt-on design. The pick-up configurations are plentiful and should provide most players with a standard array of tones from which to choose from.

The guitar was set-up in an exceptional fashion. Allow me to explain. Usually, when guitars are shipped across the ocean on a boat followed by a couple of days in a truck, they end up being out of tune and need a certain amount of adjustment. I played this one straight out of the box and it was only slightly out of tune. The truss rod needed no adjustment and the bridge was still afloat and parallel to the route. It was impressive. The action was surprisingly low for a new guitar. It played fast and precise. The neck has comfortable flat back and a thin overall size. I find that it allows me to access the lower frets on the big E string much easier. Despite the way it played off the shelf, what attracted me most was the suede black finish. It's a curious sensation to run your fingers up and down the body. I assume that it is easy to up keep as it didn't seem to hold in any moisture or get stains from fingerprints.

I have not dealt with Ibanez in person, but i have heard from the suppliers that they are incredibly professional and can be contacted easily. I know that they honor their warranties very well and that most guitars never need to see the use of it.

All in all, there are three things that i really enjoyed about this guitar. The first would be the neck. It's a lovely neck and it's something unique to Ibanez. Secondly, i really like the suede finishes on it. I think it's one of those guitars that everyone needs to try just to understand how fun it is to hold and play. Finally, i enjoyed the signature Ibanez case they included. I know this isn't part of the guitar, but for the price i paid i feel this case is a serious gift. Nice fluff interior padding and solid plastic outer casing makes this every musician's dream.

I only have problem with this guitar and it is the bridge. Now let me clarify. It is far superior to the Licensed Floyd Rose bridges installed on the axes sharing the same price range. However, i really believe the older models such as the Original Edge and the Lo Pro Edge were of much higher quality and a lot easier to handle. That being said, i still think it's a good tremolo and i would take it over the majority of locking tremolos available out there.

Great value
| Sound |
Can't comment on the stock sound to much, but as soon as i put in some DiMarzio Evolution pickups this thing really came to life, very full and balanced, capable of MANY tones.

When i got the guitar everything was flawless. The craftsman ship was just amazing, the neck felt flawless, nice and smooth. Frets were perfect. Bridge, what can i say its an Edge pro :), was astounding. I didn't have to make hardly any adjustments.

I've had this guitar for well over 2 years, and its served me fine, ive had absolutely no issues what so ever with it, it shreds like theres no tomorrow, super fast neck, the tremelo stays in tune very well, regardless of how much you abuse the trem.

I have not.

The neck for once, is the nicest neck i've ever played, especially for a $850 guitar. The trem also is FABULOUS, very well made. The case they come with is very very nice, tons of storage, very plush and just overall well made.

thye action at first was horrid it felt like i was tugging on train tracks i had to go down on the action a ton.with a full setup i was amazed but who wants to set up a new guitar .i guess i did haha but worth it.the neck is a bit uncomfortable and the frets are not shave great its not as prestige as the name gives it.

i have to say again and again that a japanese ibanez will last forever if cared for and left out of harsh climate.

i love the fact that it has an edge pro trem and the classic v7 v8 pickups like the old rg guitars.
the tone is rich and bassy and thats my thing for my lead tones if used properly.the finish is great and the hardware beautiful. with a few mods you would have a jem guitar for an rg price.

i wish the could have put an original wizard neck on the guitar i think the neck killed this mone for me .also the neck is boring with the rosewood and plain dots i mean everyone knows ibanez can make some gorgeous necks.also the factory setup oin this was horrid and unless i paid for it before i played it i wouldnt have bought it.with a custom neck or an original wizard profile neck this guitar would rock and im pretty suyre the old rg 570 neck would fit this guitar perfect and then be a true rocker poor mans jem.

Moderate Value
| Sound |
The sound was very bassy, not at all appealing for anything. I bought the guitar to play metal and the pickups (V7/V8) were terrible. I've had many other Ibanez guitars with that pickup combo and they sounded much better. Overall the sound was a great dissapointment.

| Action, Fit, & Finish |
The guitar was setup pretty well from the factory, can't really complain at all about that. All of the fit and finish seemed very good, no complaints at all.
|
| Reliability & Durability |
The only complaint I had was that the hardware began corroding/rusting in just a few days. Ibanez refused to help me out in any way, citing in the warranty that hardware isn't covered. The store took care of it and cleaned it up for me.

Absolutely horrible. Couldn't have been worse, I just dropped $850 and they have nothing for me. Garbage.

| Liked about it |
I liked the look (although I started to dislike the finish after a while), the fit and finish was good. Playability was very good. The case was outstanding.
|
| Didn't like |
The hardware finish lasting only about 72 hours was a big dissapointment. The pickups were trash, wouldn't have used them in a $99 guitar, let alone an $850 guitar.
