Best 7 string I've played
| Sound |
I've had 2 of these guitars over time, the sound from the Blaze 7 pickup installed was what you'd expect from a high end Dimarzio pickup. It seemed balanced, the highs were well defined and the bottom end was tight. The second model I bought had Blaze Custom pickup installed in it (DP703 I believe), which gave the guitar a bit more clarity in the bass/treb area, much like a Breed pickup gives over an evolution installed into a Jem.

| Action, Fit, & Finish |
This UV model of guitar feels effortless to play, the action can be set incredibly low with no fret buzz at all as the instrument is manufactured to a high standard. The finish of the black guitar with the chrome pick-gaurd makes it a looker whilst causing the guitar to be slightly more susceptible to minor scratching. From the factory the first instrument I bought was well setup, I didn't have to change anything at all which is quite rare for me.
Couldn't see any manufacturing flaws on the guitar from the shop, then again for the best part of £1,600 you'd hope not. I also own a 7620 RG 7 string guitar and whilst that instrument is very nice, the UV has slightly better sound, better looks and requires less effort to play due to the build quality/setup.
|
| Reliability & Durability |
As with any high end Ibanez instruments you can give these things a kicking if you're that way inclined and they usually come out shining. The trem was very stable and took quite a bit of punishment whilst staying in tune flawlessly. I walked away from the guitar and picked it up 2 months later, still sat perfectly in tune. I'd definitely depend on this instrument and I've never had to bring along another 7 as a backup. The quality of the instrument speaks for itself, you can rely on this guitar to look, sound and play as well as the day you bought it. They also seem to hold value moderately well.

I have not had to deal with Ibanez directly.

| Liked about it |
1) Feel of the fretboard + action, effortless to play
2) The clarity of the sound from the Dimarzio pickups were brilliant, great range
3) Looks, the guitar looks great on stage, black for metal yet reflective to catch people's eye

What could I change... I'm not sure there is anything to be honest.
I wouldn't mind an option for buying one of these with a piezo pickup in the bridge but you can't have everything.
As far as 7 string guitars go, if you're into Jem's and the general Ibanez RG feel, this 7 will suit your needs perfectly.

7-string dream
| Sound |
Now this guitar is the 7-string dream. I have used Ibanez 7s like my trusted 1527 and many more, this guitar is by far the easiest to play and the most versatile in sounds.
I have absolutely no need to switch to another guitar, from thick heavy sounds to twangy cleans, I can do everything with the highes quality.
Playability of the neck and so on is also awesome. 7s tend to be harder to play because of the bigger fretboard, but the UV gives even many 6-strings a run for their money.

The guitar was purchased and setup from Musik Schmidt in Germany, who did a great job on the setup. The finish of the guitar is stunning and flawless.

It has never let me down in the year I have it.

No dealings regarding the UV, European Ibanez Support is generally very nice and helpful.

I Quit Looking After This One
| Sound |
This guitar is by far one of, if not the most versitile I have played. With the right tweaking and what not I have gotten a Les Paul tone, Strat, and the distinctive Ibanez sound. I run mine through Boss Proceccor, and a Mesa Triple Rectifier. Pretty straight forward. Doesn't require a room full of accessories to sound good. It has had a long run even after the fad of 7's came and went. It was there before and is still here today for a reason.
|
| Action, Fit, & Finish |
Ibanez blows the competition (besides Gibson's Custom Shop-Tie) out of the water as far as factory set ups. A lot of these guitars wouldn't need anything done for 90% of the players purposes. Mine has been through the ringer and still sounds amazing, under any tone I'm going for.
|
| Reliability & Durability |
For a bolt on neck, Ibanez has a good thing as far as durability. The knife edges on the Trem hold up pretty good and stays tuned well.

Almost perfect

Read up on string stretching or tuning is a nightmare (as with all floating bridges)
* Knife edges had to be filed

7 string thunder!
| Sound |
What can I say about the sound. It's deep, rich and extremely well balanced for a 7 string. Clean sounds are bright and clear and the 7th string makes chords sound new and interesting. Overdriven sounds can get a bit mushy without the right EQ but once you've heard the lower strings in action you'll never look back.
|
| Action, Fit, & Finish |
The guitar was set up excellently from the factory. The action was low and buzz free and felt extremely 'normal' to play even with the slightly wider neck. Paint finish is of the usual Ibanez high gloss standard and the neck inlays are cut accurately in the fret board.
|
| Reliability & Durability |
Would I gig with this guitar? Without a doubt! This beauty is bomb proof and will not let you down. The finish is tough and will last for years to come and likewise with the hardware. This guitar will take a lot of abuse and still look and sound like new.

From the minute I opened the case I knew it was something special. The finish, the neck, the pick ups everything was perfect. If you ever get to play one or see one then you'll know what I mean.

Black Beauty.
| Sound |
The guitar has got loads of sounds...great for crunchy rhythm or warm lead runs. I was impressed by the sound. Sounded like my SD JB pickup on my strat. Middle pickup was noisy and it tends to lower by itself because the screw is a bit on the loose side. I used my ADA MP1 with a Marshall 9100 50/50 power amps, Alesis Quadraverb and a 2X12 Peavy cab. I liked the all of the pickups accept for the middle single coil. I changed out the crap factory 0.22cap to a Orange drop 0.22 600Volts cap and MY god it really makes the pickup sound at least 30% better.

| Action, Fit, & Finish |
The setup and action was bad from the dealer that I bought. The guitar was not set up at the factory. The finish were great but the bridge doesn't stay in tune which kind of defeats the purpose of a locking system. I had to tight the stud using a teflon tape on the stud thread and apply a chapstick on the moving parts. Setup the action to my liking and readjusted the neck. The locknut strips off after about six month of using it. Sucks!

Like I said Ibanez is a Slow Company, parts not easily available weather online or thru a dealer. Ibanez should improve more on that and at least release all the Ibanez parts and make easily available for their customers. Do like what Fender had done.

Beauty personified
| Sound |
Lets just say my review comes from a thrash/prog/metal player!! With these styles in mind, im needing a guitar that will sing and at the flick of a switch, snarl and bite your eardrums relentlessly until you decide otherwise! My review will consist of the use of a Line6 XT PRO running through M-Audio studio monitors.
The Blaze pick-ups cover a wide tonal range that works well with various distortions and effects. The bridge is bright and punchy, the middle is soft yet clear and the neck has great definition without being to quite and muddy!! I hope that makes sense!! All done with D'Addario 9-42 and a 54 B string.

Even though it was purchased second hand, it was only 12 months old. There is nothing bad to say about the UV777BK...its beautiful from input jack to the tip of the headstock....pearoid binding all over is very pretty. I couldnt find any manufacturing flaws.
|
| Reliability & Durability |
UV777BK is a solid unit thats a workhorse no doubt. Id be happy to take it to a gig without a backup as long as the strings are new. The finish seems sturdy enough for the moment, but will see after a couple of years of abuse. The only thing, is that its black.......so cleaning will need a little more care to prevent swirl marks!!!

Simply Amazing
| Sound |
I've loved this guitar ever since i got ahold of a used one years ago. My current Universe I bought new and it has sounded better than ever. I've used it live with my Mesa Triaxis as well as in the studio with my Pod X3 Pro and it always delivers.

When it arrived Ibanez had done a great job of setting it up and right out of the case it played great. I did have it setup to my personal prefs, but i still could have played it as it arrived.

| Reliability & Durability |
Not an issue with it at all. I tend to take a little extra care with this one since i know it is my number one.
