Very good low end guitar
Sound
I bought my JS30 Kelly two years ago as I wanted a guitar without locking system that I could easily down tune and play around with. I've always liked the Explorer shape and for me it's a must that a guitar has 24 frets.
This guitar met all my demands and the price tag was a nice surprise as well.
The body is nicely cut and is comfortable to play standing up as well as sitting down. The balancing of the instrument is not so much to my liking, as it feels like you're stretching to reach the 1st and 2nd fret. The neck has a tendency to fall down if you don't hold it, so be aware of this.
The playability is very good. The neck is thin and fast and it has jumbo frets. If you like the Ibanez Wizard necks, you'll be comfortable with a Jackson neck.
The neck is bolt on and despite the shredder-friendly cutting, the 24th fret is not all that easy to reach.
The pick ups are two passive Jackson humbuckers, that gives a solid metal sound. The clean, bluesy and mid-range sounds does not come through as good.
For this price level, you'll get a very good guitar in a Jackson JS.

I got this new, but I don't think anything was done with it from the shop. Intonation was good and it was in an ok state. No marks or scratches on body or neck. No fret buzz.

Reliability & Durability
The guitar is a back up for my back up and I bought it to play with at home mostly. I find it handy to have a guitar without string locking systems so you can easily re-tune if you want to play along to something 1/2 step down or with a drop D for example.
The hard ware is starting to show signs of wear. Last month one of the supporting rings where the strings goes through the body broke and fell off. Time will tell if that was a one off or not.

Worth the money
Sound
The sound of this guitar is a bit thin, but for the price the sound accurately matches the price you pay, it does clean tone well, as it should and the high gain is passable, I played this through a Rolan street cube which covered up the cheap pickups well but I could still feel the drawbacks.

Action, Fit, & Finish
The guitar was setup nicely, the action was low and there was no fret buzz, the knobs and toggle switch worked smoothly which was nice for such a reasonably priced guitar. I could find no obvious finishing flaws.

Liked about it
The main thing I liked about this guitar was the fact that the quality and feel was identical to the other Jackson Kelly I played at a store, which was three times the price.
I also liked that the guitar stays in tune very well for a cheap, fixed bridge guitar.
The finishing and build quality was great such a price.

Didn't like
The main thing I didn't like about this guitar was the fact that the quality and feel was identical to the other Jackson Kelly I played at a store, which was three times the price which makes me question the higher end range.
The pickups weren't very impressive but I don't expect that from a cheap guitar.
I wish it had black hardware, the chrome makes it looks much cheaper than it feels.
