A tempory solution to pickup customization. featured

Comments Bobbin Toppers are simply vinyl stickers that easily fix to your pickups. I purchased a set of Cream colored bobbins to go on my Les Paul Classic. The bobbins come with a supplied alcohol wipe that is to be used before you apply the bobbin, in order to remove any dirt and grime. The bobbins went on without a hitch and appear to be fairly well secured in place. From a distance, these toppers are barely noticeable. They line up with the poles close enough to where it's unnoticeable from afar. The surface of the topper has a glossy sheen to it, which matches the plastic pickup caps fairly closely.

Liked about it 1.) I like the fact that someone came up with the idea to manufacture these. Its a temporary solution to a guitar that needs a little extra visual flare.
2.) They come in a variety of different colors. There is something for everyone.
3.) Brian ships out the items fairly fast, not much delay. He also takes pride in his work and backs his products.

Didn't like The bobbins aren't always perfectly cut. I bought two bobbins and one of them was slightly off. The pole pieces didn't line up as well as the other bobbin. It would also make this product so much better if the bobbins were constructed using more durable materials. A more permanent bobbin would be ideal. Because the bobbins are frail, the edge of the pick can cause the corners of the toppers to remove from the pickup. The price also seems a little steep consider the quality. $2 for a single F space bobbin is a little much. That is probably the cost of a whole package of the vinyl material needed to make these things. Oh well, that's capitalism for you!

A cheap way to customize your pickups

Comments Well, bobbin toppers are really just stickers that are sized to fit over the bobbins on your pickups. I have to say, it was a very creative idea on the part of the 'inventor'. I am a big fan on people filling a niche that has not been filled before. They are relatively robust but just like all stickers, they don't last forever. They have a tendency to tear a little if you make contact with them a lot when you play. They are available in a bunch of colors which is pretty cool. I would recommend them as an affordable alternative to getting custom colors from Dimarzio, cause that can be expensive. They can be a pain to put on, but this is just the nature of putting a sticker on a pickup because you have to match the cut outs in the sticker to the pole pieces.

Liked about it Cheap
Neat colors
Look pretty close to being the actual bobbin color from a distance

Didn't like Hard to put on
Don't last forever
Can sometimes tear ruining the 'illusion'

I would spend more for the new pickups.

Comments I tried once, but not very happy with. The color I saw on their website is not the same as I thought once I got it real. I understood that its not easy to work with. Anyway I ordered pink one to put on my vintage PGM100. Once I have it done, the toppers were too bright in color. It didn't look like a real plastic one. I decided to removed it out and purchased new set of pups instead.

Liked about it -I like the idea how to save money.
-some color which hard too find is easy to find from them.

Didn't like -difficult to stick.
-color is too bright compare to the real plastic one.

- Difficult to find one that completely fit your pickup poles size and configuration.
- They're nice seen from far away, but not so nice when you look closely.
