An Inexpensive tone maker.

I ordered the Big Block for the Ibanez edge pro, I wanted to put it into my RG7; however, the block was too small, so I decided to put it into my cheap Indonesian made RG4EXFM1 (I had upgraded the trem from an edge III to an edge pro). What a difference it made. First off, it was really easy to install. About Half an hour after I started installing it, I was already set-up and ready to play. This Big Block really added sustain, warmth, and gave me a huge fat tone. It made my cheap $400 RG sound like a $2000 guitar. Those $40 really made a difference. Probably one of the greatest investments I have made in order to try to get a good tone. The Big Block has really helped me get closer to ending the seemingly never-ending search for great tone.

An essential upgrade for your Floyd Rose
| Comments |
If you like tone and sustain, this upgrade is for you. For the price it's almost a no brainer. If your Floyd has a plain old steel, or die-cast block, you're missing out on tone and sustain that could be had for less than $40 and and hour of your time.
I installed this as a replacement for a standard steel block in a basswood body, maple top guitar. Immediately I found the low end sounds to be clearer and less muddy with lots of gain. Mids were changed a little, they were warmer sounding, and the frequency seemed to shift a little toward the lower end of the spectrum. Highs sounded warmer and clearer.
The sustain increase is noticeable as well, unplugged I can pluck a string and it will just ring forever. Plugged in and overdriven, it's nearly endless. The sustain on the guitar is and was great to begin with, but this improved it.
All in all a very worthwhile upgrade. Tone is subjective, your mileage may vary, but I know I'm getting more of them for other guitars.
Since this is Jemsite and all, its worth noting that they also make them for the Edge trem too.

Improved tone and sustain!

Installation is a pain, since you have to remove your bridge, saddles and re-intonate when you're finished. Even with that it's not too much of an issue if you're comfortable working with your bridge.
