Korg TM-40 Tuner-Metronome

A great lesson and practice tool, the Korg TM-40 offers both tuner and metronome functions that can be used simultaneously or independently. A large LCD-type needle delivers both the accuracy of an LCD and excellent visibility of a needle indicator. The metronome tuner also has LED indicators that show pitch deviation or blink to indicate the tempo.

Great Tuner and Metronome! featured

Comments This was one of the first things I bought when I started playing guitar, I have absolutely now regrets! Let me start with the tuner side.

Firstly It has a fairly large liquid display that is very visible in high light! unfortunately however, this is NOT backlit! This is a chromatic tuner, and you can set the reference pitch from 410hz to 480 hz, by default it is set at A= 440hz. The tuner has a line in as well as a fairly sensitive built in mic. The needle is smooth and not very jumpy (as on many digital boss models) and ranges from +/- 50 cents, it also has red LEDs for sharp/flat and will fade in the center green LED when it is in tune.

This tuner is also a sound-out tuner, simply press the "sound" button and it will sound out chromatically all 12 tones. also hold the sound button for a few seconds and it will play a pitch of A440 or Bb respectively. the volume can also be modified by the Volume wheel.

Now to the Metronome function:

The metronome is a standard needle/pendulum style metronome with corresponding LEDS on each side as well as a tone. It ranges in tempos from 40bpm to 208bpm. Also you have every major subdivision and triplet pattern as well as multiple time signatures (e.g; 1/4 up to 7/4). There is also a very useful, usable and accurate tap tempo!

You can also simultaneously use the tuner and metronome at the same time, although the tuner needle takes the LCD screen but the tuner still uses the tones and LEDs.

There is also a tab on the back which pops out so it can be sit up while practicing!

This is very sturdy, I have dropped it many time even on concrete! I have only had to replace the batteries TWICE in three years of much use!!

There is also a headphone jack, but it cannot be used as a DI.

This is also very portable and will easily fit into you pocket!

Liked about it Very accurate and smooth tuner!

Comprehensive Metronome function!

Everything!

Didn't like No backlight for dark stages.

No DI or headphone amp function.

You have not bought it yet!
