A workable solution to use with existing strap pins

I've been an avid user of the Dunlop "Straplok" systems for quite a while. Those require you to replace your existing guitar's strap pins and screws and then install special stap attachments at the ends of your guitar straps. I thought I'd try the Planet Waves Lock Strap as a solution that is a bit simpler; something that didn't require that I remove any parts from an existing guitar.
The strap itself comes with a locking mechanism that twists into place after you snap on the strap over each stap button on your guitar. In fact, it rachets while you're twisting it and remains incredibly secure until you release the ratchet with a button on the side of the lock. There is absolutely no concern about accidental disconnection with these straps. Plus, they're available in various colors and patterns, including two of my favorites which contain the artwork of Satch himself.
Minor complaints: The strap ends are a very rigid structure which contains the locking mechanism. Therefore they remain set at the same angle as the strap pins on your guitar, as opposed to bending like a normal strap. This looks a bit awkward. Also, the locking mechanism really holds to your guitar pins rather tightly, and there's very little rotational movement unlike one of the Dunlop "Straplok" systems which have very free 360-degree movement even though the strap is completely locked. Also, attaching it to a JS1200 or JEM7V somewhat of a pain since the guitar pins are very large on those two guitars -- you have to force it.
Overall I think it is a good locking strap. I do like the fact that one can leave my existing hardware alone on every guitar. However, the lack of free motion that I'm used to with the Dunlop solution is a little annoying.
For now I believe I actually like the Dunlop Straplok system just a bit better.

Worth every penny!

A few days ago I received my Planet Waves lock straps, ordered one for my new RGA8 and one for an other unspecified guitar. The first think that came to me when I tried to put on the strap on my Dean V was that it only fits on 1 side of the end, making it slightly uncomfortable to wear it with an extremely shaped guitar. When my RGA8 arrived, I immediately put it on the guitar and it would never come off. A very simple but very good working and cheap solution for locking strap pins.

1: It is simply made out of plastic, which gives me a bit of a fragile feeling about it.
2: Since the ends are solid, I'm afraid they will cause scratches on the body.
3: It isn't compatible for every guitar (see comments section).

No Assembly Required!!! A Great Solution To A Big Problem

This is my first review so bare with me. I had actually been looking into different straps for the simple reason that I was getting tired of the same old black satin strap I've had for years. I stumbled across this while doing so and thought it was a very interesting concept and a cheaper solution to buying strap locks and a strap. Plus I didn't have to remove any parts from the guitar, which for me is a great because I worry about about screwing up even the simplest things I do to my guitars. Some strap lock systems come with bigger screws and you could unintentionally tear up your body if not careful, with this there is no worries at all.
The locking mechanism that the strap contains is rather easy. Simply slide it over your strap pins and ratchet it into place. It was actually way more secure than I thought it would be. The only way it would malfunction is if your strap pins came loose from your guitar. Removal was rather easy as well. All you you have to do is press the very conveniently located button on the side of the locking mechanism and un-ratchet it. It's very quick and easy which comes in handy for switching guitars while I'm on stage. I'd recommend this to anyone.
