Different with its own character

Now I tried this amp with the following guitars: JEM 7vwh, JEM 77vbk, Les Paul Std., Stratocaster Am. Std., Stratocaster Lukather Modell, Ibanez 1527 and finally UV.
First this amp has a surprisingly snappy and nice clean tone, which most Engls cannot do. It is not as warm as you would expect from a tube amp and has lots of attack, but it is very nice compared to even Mesa cleans.
But that is not the terrain of Engl, so go to the drive sections.
The crunchy sounds I could produce did not beat me from the chair. They were too much chainsaw too early and never did you get a bluesy feeling, even after long times of turning around.
So we get to the thing this amp seems to be built for -> GAIN.
Well it has LOTS. This amp can scream to no end. Drop tune and you are in heaven. However it regains a very own character, that might not be for everyone, it sure did work for me. It also liked my 7-strings and it was fun to play with this high gain beast. You have to finetune it though as it has some sort of compression when you go that far...

It looks extremely well built, I think it would survive a truck running over it.
