AWSOME amp!!!
| Sound |
-Guitars- Ibanez(rgs, radius, Js1000)
-Pickups-dimarzios(evos,super distortion, air norton) also, some still have the ibzusa pickups.
-Music style-Satch,Vai, Malmsteen. I also like classic rock stuff.
-Fitting my style-I had one of the very 1st ones that came out. I could do just about any stlye with this dude.
-Noisy? only when you have a dist pedal on the front end at idle.
-Variety-
-Distortion brutality? It does a good light crunch at full pre-gain

Good Fender Alternative
| Sound |
I loved this amp when I had it a few years ago. It was a great little combo that let me get good blues rock tones and it took pedals well. With the help of pedals, the amp could do just about any style I wanted it to, but by itself, it was perfect for gritty blues. The cleans were chimey and rich, very similar to Fender's Blues Jr. despite the difference in tubes. I found the overdrive great for Texas blues tones (SRV).
The controls are minimal with volume and gain and a shared EQ but it was fine for my uses. I never noticed any effect on the volume or tone when the effects loop was in use. I found the stock speaker to be pretty good but I was also curious to see what it would sound like with a Celestion V30 in there. I never did the swap because I wasn't dissatisfied with the sound and couldn't justify the cost of a new speaker. I eventually got rid of it because I moved into an apartment and couldn't play it without the neighbor's getting angry.

Worked just fine for me while I had it and I was confident that I could get through a gig without a backup.

Never dealt with Peavey, never needed to.

1. Nice, portable amp that (with some assistance) could play most styles of music.
2. Very respectable effects loop.
3. Relatively inexpensive for the amp you get. 2 solid channels and an effects loop with a 12" speaker for $600 is pretty good in my book.

One of my only gripes with the amp was that the speaker was hard-wired to the output and I would've preferred to have been able to disengage the speaker to make the amp a head for an extension cab. There is an extension out, but I would've liked to have been able to unplug the combo speaker.
