Not quite a real plexi sound, but pretty dang close. featured

Sound I plugged my plexi module into my Randall RM50 Head using Winged =C= El34 tubes and a mixture of Tung Sol and Chinese 12ax7 preamp tubes. The RM50 is plugged into my Bogner OS 2x12 cabinet with English Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Guitars I used were a PRS SE Singlecut with Gibson 57 Classic+ in the bridge and a Fender 72' Telecaster Deluxe RI with stock pickups. First of all, the plexi module had a very articulate clean sound. Sounded very convincingly like an old Marshall dialed back. The range on the all the tone and gain controls were very wide so I was able to get multiple sounds and tones. Because they were so wide I had to be careful and tweak the knobs slowly to get the sound I liked. Turning the gain up gave me a very plexi-like tone. This is not super-high gain, but a real plexi amp is not a high-gain amp. The overdriven tones reminded me of all the ACDC records. I started jamming Back in Black and pretty much nailed those tones.

Reliability For the year that I owned the Plexi Module I did not experience and module or tube failures. Very reliable. I would have been able to trust it fully at a show without a backup. I always bring a backup no matter what, but I did not need to use it when I gigged with this module.

Customer Support I have no experience in dealing with Randall. Didn't need to contact them for anything as the module worked well.

Liked about it I liked the wide range of tones available and the the wide frequency response of the tone and gain controls. Made it easy to find my sound. Sounded very much like a plexi.

Didn't like To achieve really super high gain the plexi module needed to be boosted. not really a bad thing as this is common practice for guitarists who own a real plexi amp.

randall plexi module

Sound other gear used, high end boost pedal, custom jem/korina, dimarzio d-activators. hard rock/metal. the randall mts series plexi module is a med gain module. do not expect to get an 80's hairband or metal sound out of this unit stock. its a darker sounding module which has complex mids. what i mean by that is, it reacts well to scooping the mids without clouding up. this module can be modified by many knowledable amp guys. the right amp modifier can make this a high gain module pretty easily making it ideal for 80's metal and hairband sounds.

Reliability i've never had any issues with the randall mts line.

Customer Support never needed to contact them.

Liked about it the plexi module reacts well to a quality signal boost. most people who opt for the randall mts have an understanding of the flexibility of the series and its capabilities. especially when delving into the modification aspect.

Didn't like some modules overlap each other in sound and tone. buyer should know a little about what their getting into before purchasing. with a research this can be avoided
