Must Have Tool For The Studio featured

Ease Of Use I mostly use this as a splitter which allows me to split my guitar signal so that I can route them to different preamps which I then can record each sound on seperate tracks at the same time. As a mixer it can combine 8 channels into 2. However, probably the coolest thing about this piece of equipment is that each channel can be assigned to act as a mixer or a splitter, which is entirely unique.

It's very easy to use as the layout is simple and straight forward. The manual can be useful to read, but it's pretty simple to figure out how it works without the manual. I just glanced over it. There's a button on each channel that lets you choose between it being a mixer or a splitter. Then a levels knob and a balance/pan knob. On the far left side is the main levels and balance/pan knob.

The levels knob lets you get your signal up to professional levels and matching the other signals going through the MX882. It also preserves your sound no matter what instrument you have plugged in since it can handle as low as 5Hz to as high as 200kHz.

Sound The sound you get is dependent on the sound coming into the unit. The MX882 doesn't dirty up the singal or clean it up. It's function is for nothing more than splitter or mixing together. So if you have a noisy signal coming in then you'll have that going out of the MX882.

Other than the above caveat this unit does what it says and preserves the original sound perfectly.

Reliability This unit is built very well. It has an aluminum front plate and front casing with a metal casing for the rest of the it. It's built to last and will protect what's on the inside. I've never had an issue with it's performance. I would completely trust it without a backup. If anything you might want another one for additional mixing/splitting.

Customer Support I've never dealt with Behringer before. I don't own anything else from them except this piece of gear. However, since I've had a good experience with this unit I wouldn't be opposed to trying other gear from them.

Liked about it The price point is crazy considering all that it can do. Crazy as in low. You simply can't find another piece of gear that can take this many channels and either split them or mix them togther, let alone having the channels act independently as a mixer or a splitter.

It's built very well which is of course necessary if you're touring or moving gear alot.

The ability to tweak the levels to a professional level all the while preserving the sound quality is great. Again, you can't find all these features at this price point.

Didn't like I would like to have more 1/4" inputs and outputs. My purpose for this unit was to use the XLR inputs and outputs for use with my preamps which also have XLR outputs. However, it would still be nice to have the ability to use more 1/4" jacks on this unit. I could see a price increase for that, but one that I would be willing to pay, and it would be a unit that I would buy rather than this.
