Ease Of Use
To be honest, Its quite difficult to get the hang of at first, but once you sit down and actually read the faceplate instructions it becomes quite easy to understand. Don't really need the instruction manual, although I did have a read through it but got nothing more than I already knew, But most helpful thing about the manual was that it came in a couple different languages, EVEN Japanese! Find that spot on brilliant! Editing patches is pretty simple (once you get the hang of it) and you'd really need to edit the patches because the standard patches it comes with are actually terrible....like seriously, it sounds like a Marshall MG15 out of the box.
Editing patches requires pressing 2 buttons then choosing what you would like to change on the top pannel letters of A B C D E, which have MIDI, Overdrive, Reverb etc etc the fact that the Overdrive has a Boost is awesome as well! Changing Reverbs and Delays is just as easy, if not easier than actually changing the whole preset.

I've used it through a Fender 30 watt on the clean channel, to be honest it was pretty good when I started out 5 years ago and it still had my old patch I used, which was just GAIN GAIN GAIN. Don't worry, now I've changed it ;)Also used this with just headphones and the outcome was 10x better. Guitars I was using were an Ibanez S470, RG550M and RG550R, sometimes an explorer copy :) All sound great but all also had they're own character which made me want to change settings to suit my needs. The settings I used were Modern Gain Amp, no cab, Gain on full and everything else at 12 o clock. The effects are basically copy's of every other major brand effects that exist, but they ARE pretty weak to be honest. The only sound I could get is a Judas Priest sound :D I don't know weather it is a good thing or bad thing >.< all the effects are pretty mediocre but they do the job for a cheap unit.

Reliability
No way could I depend on it, It kind of broke down on me after 6 months use and I wasn't bothered to fix it as people were telling me it would cost too much to fix, but my brother had a look at it and it turns out the fuse was dirty and the bios? battery needed to be replaced. I wouldn't personally gig with it, unless I had no other choice.

Works like a charm for recording
Ease Of Use
I've toyed around with processors for many years. I've never really been comfortable with any of them the Vamp Pro included...until...until I incorporated the computer software that allows you to graphically develop patches and sounds. Sweet and easy.
|
Sound
I have never used my Vamp Pro with an amp. I use it strictly for recording direct into Cubase in my computer. I'm constantly getting compliments on my tone and I enjoy watching people back pedal when they find out it's digital modeling. I've had great results with single coil and humbucking pickups and getting great sounds. The best however, is the EMG SA pickups on my Ernie Ball Luke. They make the unit sound fabulous. The SECRET to getting a great sound with the VAmp Pro is to adjust the input gain to the proper level which is usually lower than the unit comes. The easiest way to do this is with the computer interface. It makes all the difference in your sound.
|
Reliability
I've had a few odd sounds come from it but I think it mainly has to do with the input jack. The jack might be PCB mounted and may be flexing a solder joint when there is too much pressure from the cable hanging. Otherwise I've had no issues with it and have gotten many years of use from it and I'm looking forward to many more.

I like the software interface. It makes it very easy to dial in tones. I also like the output options (SPDIF, Ultra G etc) It makes for a flexible unit for recording and I'm not stuck with only one way to get what I'm after. The digital output is very clean and sounds great. I also like that it sounds like a real amp and cabinet in many of the emulations. Much more so to my ear than the POD units do.

Didn't like
It does have a different feel when playing it. That is to be expected with most digital gear. It's just the way most of it is. It's not a tube amp so it doesn't feel like one. I also didn't like that it was difficult without the software to find the proper guitar input level. That is the make or break feature of the unit. If you dial the guitar input level correctly the Vamp Pro sounds like a million bucks on just about every patch. It's difficult to figure this out without the software.

An Affrodable rack mount guitar processor
Ease Of Use
It looks like a professional equipment.. but even newbies and rookies can easily operate it. The manual given is easy to understand and followed, every procedures and steps are clearly stated for users ease of use..so, patches editing and effect mixing is not much of a hassle...:)the amp modelings are awesome and some effects sounds brilliant

Currently using an Ibanez RG, and ive used my LTD mh1000.. no noise i think its my noise gate however the noise gate on the Vamp Pro is also use-able not the best but it does eliminate some noises.... The effect on it, actually i don't use much as Im using this as my Pre Amp only connected to my TC Gmajor... however,Ive fiddle around with the effects its actually has a good sounding the Wah on one of the presets is one of dream tone that ive been looking for.. the phaser is another effect tha i would recommend you to have a go with reminds me of EVH :) overall there are some effects that delayed when switched into but then its all good..
Patches are available on line if you are looking for your favorite guitarist sounds and guys..they do some good ones too.. but if you are a perfectionist yourself wanting your own sound and tones.. there are 32 amp modelings 15 speaker cabs and 16 effects that you can tweak all over.. This unit they say its the PODxt pro alike and this is even better

Reliability
it is a reliable unit.. for me.. i always have my Korg Ax1500g a a back up.. but then the V amp Pro won't let you down.. i have it for coming three years now.. and its still doing well
