Danelectro CF-1 Fuzz Pedal
|
Danelectro CF-1 Fuzz Pedal. Part of Danelectro's "Cool Cat" series of pedals that are housed in a rugged metal casing and offer true bypass switching. This first generation CF pedal is rumored to be a clone of the famous Frantone Peach Fuzz. This model has controls for Volume, Tone and Fuzz.

| Ease Of Use |
First off, I should say that I am not much of a fuzz guy. I favor very smooth and polite overdrive, so naturally I prefer boosts and overdrives to fuzz pedals. That being said, I think that this pedal is something everyone deserves to have on their pedal board. It is versatile and easy to dial in a number of great tones.

| Sound |
I should mention that it is my experience that this pedal responds to single coil's much better than it does to humbuckers. To my ears the higher output of the humbuckers seems to turn the pedal to mush but it might be the way the pedal reacts with my amp and the rest of my setup. However, with my Strat or Tele this pedal has the sweetest singing upper range of anything I have personally used. The greatest thing about this is that the lowes stay intact with this pedal and sound good as well.
I have several other drive pedals that do a great job so I use this pedal to achieve a not too crazy fuzzy sound. However, this thing can get as much fuzz and gain as you would ever need. If the fuzz knob went to 11 it might just kill you. At the other end of the spectrum it makes a good fuzzy boost or overdrive with lower fuzz/higher volume settings.
With unity gain and a little fuzz dialed in it makes a great solo boost to put before or after your primary boost/drive/distortion pedal.

| Reliability |
I have had the CF-1 for a few months and haven't encountered any problems yet. It has a nice metal housing and seems to be rugged enough. The switch doesn't seem like it will ware out anytime soon.

Price! Tone and Versatility. This Pedal is one of the best value for money I have come across.

The "Cool Cat" line has a little larger footprint than is necessary.
