Down and dirty delay featured

Ease Of Use The Ibanez DE7 is a straight forward simple delay pedal. It's got a single mono input and mono out as well as a dry out. It's got 3 control knobs (Delay Time, Repeat & Delay Level) which are Ibanez's Tone-Lok type where you can set them then depress them so they are level with the pedals body and out of the way of your foot when operating. To adjust them you just press down on them lightly and they pop back up again. There is a 3-position switch that changes the range of the "Delay Time" control and another to switch between "Echo/Delay". This is the best feature of the pedal because in Delay you get a nice crisp digital delay but in Echo you get a darker more analog type tone (but in a good way, not too dark...actually just right). It runs on a 9v battery or a Boss style AC adapter.

Sound As cheezy and cheap as the Tone-Lok pedals may feel, this is one of the best low cost delays out there. The Echo setting does a real good job of mimicing an analog delay and there is plenty of adjustment on board to go from crisp slap back to darker long delays for those soaring leads.

Reliability It's a cheep pedal so if you like the way it sounds and plan to gig with one do yourself a favor and buy a back up. It's discontinued now but Ibanez sold a ton of these so they are easy to find used. They were only about $65 new so you can pick them up used for next to nothing.

Customer Support Discontinued, you are on your own. If it breaks fix it yourself or throw it out and find another.

Liked about it It sounds great, is easy to use and very inexpensive.

Didn't like It's light and fragile feeling. I've never had a problem with mine but I've never gigged with it either. It's low marks for cheezy construction are totally eclipsed by the great sounding delays you can get out of it.

Champagne delay sounds on a beer budget featured

Ease Of Use This is another simple to use pedal. Turn some knobs and find what you like. Not too hard to do. However, there are a few options that might confuse the more decision challenged players. There are 3 delay ranges: short, medium and long and 2 modes: echo and delay. So you are going to have to make some choices but it's nothing to get too worked up over.

Sound This little silver box sounds fantastic! So many other companies have tried to get sounds this good but have either failed or charge way too much for their products. This cheap (inexpensive) little baby nails some sweet spatial sounds that are so much fun to play with. The Echo mode has a nice organic analog sound and feel to it with the repeats becoming somewhat duller as they go on. Just like echoes in real life. The Delay mode is a digital delay mode no doubt but it sounds more organic than any Boss delay I've ever used. Where most digital delays have a harshness or brittleness to them I haven't found that to be the case with the DE-7. Big plus...it can self oscillate.

Reliability It comes in a metal case with a sturdy switch. No problems with either yet. The adjustment knobs are spring loaded and recess when you are done obtaining the settings you like just by pushing them down. They lock into place below the top level of the pedal and makes it almost impossible to either break a knob or change the settings. Like what you dialed in? It will stay that way until you change it. Very nice indeed. Like most delay pedals it will eat batteries quickly so plan on getting a 9 volt adapter.

Customer Support I think taking this back to an Ibanez dealer for service might be a joke. As inexpensive as they are it might be best to just buy another one.

Liked about it I love the 2 delay modes because of the variance in tonal quality. I also like the 3 time mode settings because it makes finding a range to work in quick and easy. I really like how inexpensive these are and how good they sound. Certainly an undiscovered and under appreciated delay pedal for sure.

Didn't like One thing and one thing only...I wish it had a tap tempo. It would then become the worlds finest delay pedal. Think I'm kidding? Go try one.
