A rock-solid pedal tuner with an easy to read display and true bypass switching featured

Ease Of Use Taking the new Morley Accu-tuner out of the box, I was immediately struck by how nice looking it was and how solidly made it is. The pedal is not some plastic garbage. It is housed in a robust metal box with glossy black paint. There were no finish flaws on the outside that I could see. All the buttons felt solid when pressing. The switch is a momentary type of switch like what is found on the Korg Pitch Black tuner and it feels like it will last a long time. I think many potential customers will be comparing this Accu-Tuner to the Pitch Black because they go for pretty much the same amount of money. I own the Pitch Black so I will be comparing these pedals head-to-head here in this review. For a Morley pedal, the Accu-Tuner is very small. In the realm of the tuner world it would be considered to possess a little bit larger pedalboard footprint than the other comparable tuners in its price-range. Its dimensions are 4.75"(L)x 3.75"(W)x 2.5"(H). I noticed that it was about an inch or two wider than the Pitch Black. If you are cramped for pedalboard space you may want to take this into consideration.

Display: The biggest plus the Accu-Tuner has is its Very large LED display. I had no problems seeing what note I was working to tune-in and thought this was a big plus over the Pitch Black. Folks, like myself, who are a bit visually challenged will find the Morley display to be great! Another big plus is The Accu-Tuner's strobe feature. It is big and very easy to read.

Accuracy: In standard tuning mode, the Accu-Tuner was not quite as precise as the Pitch Black. The Accu-tuner still tuned my guitar up perfect enough for my taste, which must be precise, so no worries there. It was just a bit less precise. NOTE: In strobe mode the Accu-Tuner was just as precise as the Pitch Black. I preferred this mode visually so it all worked out evenly between the two, for me. Speed was another area that I compared. I found the Morley to be very quick in its recognition of the note I was playing. It was not quite as quick as the Pitch Black, but we are only talking about a small amount of milliseconds. Clearly not a big deal at all. The Morley was fast enough for my taste.

Features: The Features on the Accu-Tuner are very comparable to the Pitch Black, with a couple of improvements. I really liked the Morley's display over the Korg. Bigger is indeed better. The Morley also has a "Choose Note Mode" that is very helpful. It allows users to choose individual notes and tune them in. I can see guitarists or other instrumentalists using this feature to dial in their alternate tunings quickly and accurately. The Accu-tuner also features a "Calibrate Tuner Mode" that allows you to choose going from A436 up to A444. I happen to tune strictly to A444 so this feature was quite valuable to me. I was bit disappointed that the Accu-tuner does not save my setting of A444 when I turn it off and turn it on, but neither does the Korg Pitch Black. This is a feature I would love to see on more tuners in this price range. Overall, I think Morley has a winner here. It has advantages I prefer over the similarly priced Korg tuner.

Sound I tested the true bypass ability of the Morley Accu-tuner to make sure there was no loss of tone. I have a very discerning ear when it comes to this. If a tuner or any other pedal colors my tone, it is immediately gone from my pedal board. The Accu-Tuner passed with flying colors. It did not color my tone in any way when it is bypassed.

Reliability I'm not able to comment as I have only been testing the pedal for a few days. It does appear to be very well constructed. It's a Morley. They make tanks! It should hold up good.

Customer Support I have not ever had to deal with Morley tech support. I do have fellow musicians who say Morley customer support is very easy to work with and helpful when dealing with them.

Liked about it I really like the Big easy to read LED Display and the Strobe Function. The True Bypass switching does not color the tone. A444 tuning ability. I like it's looks too. It's just cool looking.

Didn't like Not quite as accurate as the Pitch Black (but still tunes up fine). Doesn't recall previous Calibrate Tuner Mode settings after it is turned off (but neither does the Pitch Black).
