The only flanger you will ever need! featured

Ease Of Use With only 3 knobs and a switch, the Electric Mistress is incredibly easy to use! Labeled "Rate", "Range", and "Color" the controls are fairly self explanatory. Plug the Mistress up to any guitar and amp and let the beautiful sounds flow, its just that simple! For testing purposes, mine was a vintage 1978 Deluxe Electric Mistress.

Sound There are some pedals throughout the history of rock and roll that are unmistakable - this is one of them. The likes of David Gilmour, Adam Jones, and countless others have got their ethereal, underwater, and other-worldly sounds from this big black and silver box. Keep the rate knob low and the depth knob high and you get a lush chorus-y sound that gently whooshes and wanes unlike any other flanger. As you increase the rate, its warble becomes more leslie like and begins to oscillate in a very psychadelic manner making you feel like you are under water or are in outer space. Hit the Mistress with gain and the warbles breakup with analog goodness, in a very pleasant and natural way. The pedals 3 knobs should be all relabeled "sweet spot". The Electric Mistress is also equipped with a "Filter Matrix" mode switch which enables it to make chimey clang type metallic ring modulated sounds. Not quite as modulated as a ring mod, its much clangier, but it is...interesting, to say the least. Its signal path is all analog and doesn't suck tone. To the contrary - this pedal is ALL tone! Whether playing single coils or humbuckers; ANY type of amp, the Mistress excels at doing its thing - creating beautiful sounds. The switch is quiet with no "clunk" when engaging or disengaging, and no intermittent noises when off. It also comes equipped with a direct out for running a non-flanged signal.

The Deluxe Electric Mistress is a must have for anyone's pedal board!

Reliability Mine is a vintage pedal, and I've only had to re-solder the output jack once from constant stage and studio use. So I'd say after 31 years of service its pretty reliable!

Customer Support Electro-Harmonix is a pretty decent company to deal with. Their staff is friendly and helpful.

Liked about it 1) Pure, rich, analog tone.
2) Totally unique sound!
3) Ultra reliable.

Didn't like 1) It's huge. (Side note: This actually gets it noticed on stage)
2) It has an attached AC cord since it's vintage - the new ones don't.
3) IT HAS AN ATTACHED AC CORD!!

Excellent Flanger that can go from mild to over th

Ease Of Use Well, this guy only has three knobs so it is very easy to use. No manual is needed, just a pair of ears. Getting a great flange is very easy.

Sound My favorite flangers are this one and the MXR Flanger. I actually kind of prefer this one for a couple reasons. It is a very musical sort of flange. One thing that EH pedals do really well is to sound like a natural extension of your tone. And like all EH pedals you can get crazy over the top settings very easily. From my experience, there is just a tiny bit of hiss when you have your amp set to a high gain distortion. There is also a filter matrix switch that lets you change the overall tonality without adding a kind of repeating modulation cycle. Sort of like a crazy tone control. The pedal sounds excellent with both single coils and humbuckers. I do prefer it over a cleaner sound as opposed to a distorted sound.

Reliability Very reliable, never had any issues.

Customer Support Never had to, but they have an awesome forum.
