More Strat-like than I thought it would be.

Comments Most humbuckers in the neck fail to achieve a true "Strat-like" bubbly tone--this one does it! I recently acquired an RG770 with a Crunch Lab/Liquifire combo, and was anxious to finally try these out. You can read my review of the Crunch Lab on that page. I absolutely love the Liquifire! It really does have that sweet bubbly, ringing/chiming Strat neck pickup tone to it. It's also got plenty of output to pair nicely with the Crunch Lab, or any other high output bridge humbucker. I ran this through my B-52 AT100 head and tried in on both the clean and crunch channels. In clean mode--it has the previously mentioned Strat-like tone. Through the crunch channel--the Liquifire had some nice crunch and singing sustain. Notes are very fluid with this one.

Liked about it I love the bubbly Strat tone.
It has enough output to pair up with any high output bridge humbucker
Sounds great through both clean and crunch channels.
Great singing sustain.

Didn't like Same complaint as the Crunch Lab--DiMarzio states these are available in several colors, but no online retailer has anything other than white, black, creme, and zebra.
The price is quite a bit higher than similar DiMarzios.

Not my first choice, but I like it.

Comments It came with my JPX7 as well as I retrofitted this onto my EBMM JP6.

The main problem I have with 24 fret guitars, is that because the neck pickup is not on the 24th fret harmonic node, the tone is not as round as I would prefer as opposed to a 22 fretter. Furthermore, being in that position tends to make a sliding note sound a little nasal. Some are fine with it, but I personally hate it. I experienced that nasal tone with many different pickups. PAF Pros, Air Nortons, HFHs, you name it. Awful.

The Liquifire was not my first choice for a pickup, as I initially didn't want an Air Norton variant. But since the report from DiMarzio claimed that it's fuller and creamier, I thought there was no harm trying.

I'm glad to say that I was wrong in my suspicions. The pickup is indeed full and round. There is little or no nasal attack on that neck pickup. However, it does make the clean tone a little less defined, and very fat. In this sense, it was what I wanted. It does something fantastically: It makes my guitar sound like a piano. As if I'm running very thick strings, yet with all the dynamics of a thinner string.

Liked about it Great round neck tone without the nasal attack for 24 frets. Piano-like. Great for tapping!

Didn't like Wish it was a little clearer, but that's still bearable.

Awesome.

Comments I have this pickup along with its natural counterpart (the Crunch Lab) into my Iceman X.
Wow.
This pickup is a fantastic sounding piece of kit. Note clarity is great! When playing quickly notes don't really blur much.
Compared to other pickups, the LiquiFire is great for those long extended solo runs. Its very much a 'lead' pickup.

Liked about it I like how this pickup sings, even when playing quickly!
Its truly a great pickup for solo lines. A Great tone too, be it through a distorted channel or a clean one, you get an awesome sound from this pickup.

Didn't like Would be nice to see a Dimarzio logo or something, i mean the liquifire actually just looks like the stock pickups from a distance.
This is probably just picking at straws now though.

Worth every cent

Comments Love this pickup! It really made my "neck" pop.
It is everything I ever wanted in a neck pickup and so much more. It changed the tone of my axe and turned it into a tone monster. The stock pickups were great in my Prestige...I just wanted more....the LiquiFire gave me more alright!
The guitar shop that installed it said they couldn't believe how one pickup could change the sound of a guitar so much. They loved it! So much that now they are a Dimarzio dealer after installing my pickups!
That is really saying something.

Liked about it I love the look and the sound.
This could be the best neck pickup ever made! If you have not bought this pickup yet...what in the hell are you waiting for? Do it! GO NOW!

The tone is just amazing....please go buy this pickup...you wont be sorry I promise!

On the scale of 1 to 5 I give the LiquiFire a 10! Best investment for your guitar by far!

Didn't like I don't like the fact that you have not bought this pickup yet! Your guitar will love you even more when you put the LiquiFire in her!

DiMarzio Liquifire burns like hell :P

Comments Being a Paf Pro man when talking about neck position humbuckers, I was very interested to see if this pickup could change my mind... after installing the crunch lab in the bridge and the liquifire in the neck, I have to say I am blown away, by the huge difference in sound. What I mean is, you can really hear them as a completely different humbucker set then any other DiMarzio available. The Liquifire seems to have a real vowel sound like its mid way through a wah pedal.. Kinda cool for long extended notes..

Liked about it I find using the paf pro in the neck position great for fast solo runs, and gives me a very bassy and melodic sound, where as the Liquifire, does the same job but much better. You get that lovely paf pro melting or melding of notes, but what the Liquifire does that the paf pro doesn't is that it cleans up the sonic field a bit, so you can hear the notes more clearly.. Fan bloody tastic.. As far as I am concerned its the perfect match for the Crunch Lab, and I wouldn't leave home without it..

Didn't like It would be nice to see Dimarzio start engraving the model name on to the top of their pickups, like you see when dimarzios come standard on certain ibanez guitars, there is a dimarzio sign engraved on the bottom left. Not a huge issue, but it is something that lacks on nearly all pickups and all brands across the board..
