Dimarzio's most powerful pickup.

If you thought the X2N was brutal, the D-Activator X takes it to the extreme.

While the original D-Activator's does what it's supposed to do, produce an "active" sound without the battery, the D-Activator X takes that same concept into a dual-blade format while increasing the mids. Even though it's appearance resembles the legendary X2N pickup, the sound it produces is much more louder, tighter and in-your-face.

Installed in an S5470 tuned to C standard, the D-X is a low-mid focused pickup that responds very well to fast riffing and very "djenty". It's probably the closest thing Dimarzio has that comes close to an active design. Even though the D-X is a fairly "metal" pickup, rolling off the volume to 1 or 2 produces a "blues" tone, kinda like a single coil guitar running through an amp whose gain is set at 4. The D-X response is pretty similar to an Evolution Bridge while the dual blade design allows for a wider spectrum of high frequencies to be heard without being compressed. As for cleans, it sounds like you're playing a fresh set of strings, every time.
It's essentially a [very] high-gain pickup with lots of clarity and headroom that's responsive to any gain setting while not sounding like a one-trick pony.

I kid you not when I mean powerful - I bought the D-X new and came with a "warning" saying not to mount this pickup close to the strings. Not quite responsive to pick dynamics.
