A nice modern upgrade for your Strat!!

When I was assembling my last Squier Strat project Dimarzio had just killed off the "Blue Velvet" line and replaced it with the "True Velvet" line. The Blue Velvet had become my go-to middle pickup for Strats over the Virtual Vintage '54 Pro. The Blue Velvet had a "glassier" tone. Now Dimarzio has done us one better by introducing the True Velvet. This pickup is a true marvel in the middle position of any Strat. The thing I absolutely adore about it is that it provides SO much more tonal flexibility in a Strat. How, you may ask?
All things considered, I'm a humbucker guy, which means in the Strat world I favor the "Fat Strat." When I have a Strat with three single-coils, I'll usually swap out the bridge pickup for an Air Norton S or Super Distortion S. Unfortunately, doing so means I lose that "Strat bridge position" sound. Not any more. The beauty of the True Velvet middle is that it preserves much of that "Strat bridge position" sound even in the middle position. It's like I get two bridge humbuckers, but still get those beautiful position 2 and 4 clean tones. Even better, because the True Velvet middle is Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity (RWRP) I wired it out-of-phase with the bridge pickup for those cool, notchy, Brian May tones.
Clean, the True Velvet sounds every bit like a chimey old Strat pickup, and over-driven gives you a nice crunch that's hard not to like. The output and EQ of this pickup make it sound more like a bridge pickup than a middle pickup, but in truth I know very few Strat players that use the middle pickup by itself. Now I have a good reason to do so--If I want humbucker sounds, I use the Air Norton S in the bridge. If I want single-coil coolness, I load up the True Velvet Middle and let 'er rip.

Excellently-voiced in the middle position to give off bridge-pickup-type sounds when over-driven.
RWRP allows for some cool voicing options and hum-cancels in positions 2 and 4.
Preserves all of the classic Strat "Chime."

Would have liked to see a little more output than the neck model.
