Seymour Duncan JB Jr. SJBJ-1 Featured

Twin coil design pickup gives you the character of Seymour Duncan's popular JB™ model humbucker in a single-coil size. Its adjustable pole pieces more closely emulate the magnetic field of a full size humbucker and allow you to fine tune the balance of your strings. You can expect great harmonics and a sweet high-end.

A lot of soul from a small pickup

Comments Overall this is a warm sounding pickup with good mids and soulful highs. It is quite bassy though, and I found that I wanted to roll back my amp settings to stop the lower registers making a deadened sound.

Sustain is ok and the pickup has a fluid sound when playing sweep picked arpeggios. Artificial harmonics are relatively easy for a neck pickup and you get the feeling that a wide variety of "trick" sounds are attainable.

Clean is warm and full. Sounds good playing jazzy chords and straight out blues (as you would expect)

Best played with the gain rolled back so you are pushing the amp into over drive rather than smashing your signal into the preamp, although it does high gain quite well without getting too muddy.

Liked about it Fluid and soulful lead sounds
Fairly versatile
Responds well to changes in the guitar volume

Didn't like Perhaps a little too bassy for my tastes.
My amps needed tweaking to get the best, but not really a normal pickup type for me.

Outstanding single coil sized stacked HB pickup

Comments I have this pickup in the bridge position in both of my strats and I love this pup. I play a Carvin Legacy with various pedals in front of it and a Digitech GSP rackmount unit for effects. The singer in the band I play in uses Hot Rails but I find this pickup to be sweeter sounding with a little more mid-range and treble, which helps it cut through the mix better. It handles high gain very well and does not get mushy. I seem to be able to get great rock tones all the way up to metal with this pup. It has great harmonics and I also love how I can coax this pup into sweet feedback from my amp. I have 2 other guitars with full sized Dimarzio HB pups and I actually like the sound of this pickup better.

Liked about it 1. I really like how this pup is voiced and how it seems to cut through the mix better than other pups I've tried.
2. Great hard rock and metal sounds
3. Seems to work well with my rig in getting nice feedback

Didn't like I'm trying but I really can't think of anything I don't like about this pickup.
