Great sounding PAF

The Dimarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup is listed on the Dimarzio site as a vintage output humbucker, which is an accurate description. I have this pickup installed in the neck position in my RG2550z and I am very happy with it.
I bought the guitar new and immediately switched out the stock pickups - I originally went with an Air Zone in the bridge, an Area' 58 in the middle and an Air Norton in the neck. My first impression of the Air Norton was that it is a great pickup but in this particular guitar I found the Air Norton to be a little bit like a Starbucks coffee - too strong and too dark. So I changed it out for a Paf Joe, which was also a good pup but I found the bass too boomy. So then I tried the Dimarzio DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and in the words of Goldilox - this one is just right ;o) I was a little concerned that it might not have enough output to play nicely with the Air Zone in the bridge but output wise they seem to get along just fine.
I'm not a big fan of high output neck pickups and this one seemed just right for what I was looking for. I also found that it was brighter than the previously mentioned pickups, which seemed to help out the sound of the RG2550z. I am also very pleased with the clarity of this pickup. Overall, I think I made a good choice with this pickup and it is staying in this guitar.
If you are looking for a medium to vintage output neck humbucker with a nicely voiced tone and great clarity then I would highly recommend this pickup.

Very good product for the money

I have a pair of these in an Ibanez RG550M XX to replace the Ibanez pickup and there has been a noticeable improvement in the sound. The PAF output is not very high but in exchange you get a great clarity with high level of distortion, a more detailed sound I would say. In the RG basswood body these really shine a bring a sharp, crisp edge to the sound.
