Great Pickup

Well, my Rg1527 had some terrible stock pups, so I bought a D-activator set and they rock.

Has a very warm sound
Great for harmonics
Has that active range and attack, but it doesn't sound sterile.

Happy I took the chance

I placed this PUP in my Ibanez RG2027VV to replace the stock PUP in the bridge position and it is awesome!!!!!! This PUP gives my EMGs in my six strings a run for their money and beyond.

They add an almost organic feeling to your guitars voice, they sound incredible when you driver them to full volume and the best thing is the full range of tones you can reach simply using your volume. When on full volume this pickup generates crisps harmonics and growling lows, pure tone range and clarity. Roll the volume back for a nice warm tone, still with harmonic bite to it. And they are super quiet, granted they are not actives, but after hearing these I am a believer, Actives are great but not the be all end all. I actually prefer these over my actives because of the spectrum of sounds I can make and I'm beyond happy with the swap. :)

I would have like them to be a bit less expensive, I got these when they first came out and I paid almost $90.

Ordered in Black/Green along with matching D-activator7 neck

Dig the clarity and overhead; Does not "max out" when you pick hard and responds well to soft attack. Versatile cleans while being clear while not being sharp doing fast runs. This pup has thump compared to an Evo7 and at the same time, sounds more natural compared to an EMG-81. It's definitely more towards a really powerful Blaze with with its presence opened a little more. Can definitely nail that Meshuggah sound with the right amp...

It IS a hi-gain pup that's not quite over-the-top. It "crunches" but not quite there despite it's EQ manages to balance with my UV777GR. Otherwise, this is definitely a good alternative to those stock Blaze's while avoiding any routing.

7 String Monster Pickup
| Comments |
I installed this on my Ibanez RG7620 some time ago for something different than my RG1527. I play alot of rock and metal. After installing this pickup and playing it was like earcandy. It's a high output pickup. If you didn't know any better you might think that it was an active pickup. It's actually a passive pickup. This pickup gets compared alot to the EMG's, and for good reason - the name "Activator" says it all! I think it helps seperate the lower frequencies so they're not all mixed together which sounds muddy. I thought it gives those frequencies more definition, more attack.

Great pickup for rock and metal. Definition at lower frequencies and more attack.

Color choices in all pickups would be great. Although I think you can get this pickup in different colors it takes a special order from DiMarzio to do it.

Powerful buddy

It makes your low strings sound alive and not muddy even when using heavy distortion.
I used to use an evolution 7 and B string sounded muddy,no definition.

1- Low strings don't sound muddy.
2- It sounds like an active pickup but without a battery.
3- Very silent.

Nothing bad about it but it could come with more color choices.
