Hipshot GT1 Grover-Style Guitar Xtender Black
|
The Hipshot GT1 allows instant detuning with the flip of a lever. The GT1 is a converted Grover peg primarily used on acoustic instruments as well as electric guitars with standard tuners.

For the lazy guitarist!

So the scoop on the Hipshot is that with the flick of the lever, it drops you a preset amount (determined by adjusting its built in spring). For the most part, the Hipshot is an OK piece of gear if you are too lazy to take the 3 seconds it takes to retune your string. The downside? The one I got eventually burrowed a larger hole (from constant use and its strong action) in its tuner mount and worked itself slightly loose, making its detune function relatively useless. After it became loose, the problem just worsened and I eventually just switched that tuned back to a regular tuner; problem solved! So not only does it add a little weight to your headstock, it can also do that under proper use conditions. My suggestion is take the time to just retune that string.
