Very surprising pickup! featured

Comments The Seymour Duncan SH-2N is a Passive pickup which features many wiring variations! (Series, Parallel, Coil splitting)It’s an Alnico V magnet with a DC resistance of 7.72Kohm. This is one of Seymour Duncans popular pickups due to it being suitable for a wide range of different music styles! It’s not too loud and not too quiet and it doesn’t have a dull, round sound you hear in jazz music (even tho it’s named "Jazz")
With effects and EQ settings you can fool around and shape up the sound to pretty much whatever you like! You can get a lot of treble bite or you can roll down the tone and have a jazz sound! When you coil tap the pickup the volume does drop quite a bit but the sound gets a lot clearer. So it does work like a true single coil.
I play Metal, Death Metal - Grindcore and a few other styles here and there. I play out of a B-52 halfstack along with a 10band EQ and Twin Tube Mayhem pedal. What I can say is Your alternate pickings, legatos, sweeps and taps or whatever else you have up your sleeve will sound clean and warm, you'll be surprised and amazed by this pickups ability to perform extremely well no matter what you throw at it!

Liked about it An all around great pickup! Suits many styles of music from Jazz, Funk, rock to heavy metal! Your able to mold your tone by taking advantage of its coil tapping, along with adjusting EQ settings! It has treble when you need it, the bass is smooth and not muddy! Great warm sound and an overall a fairly decent pickup! Caught me by surprise.
Also just to note* This pup has higher mids then Active EMGs

Didn't like Its not a hot pickup as its not supposed to be! So if your looking for something more bright, more attack with more bite! More for brutal death metal with high piercing harmonics then there are other pickups available for that purpose :)

Putting it back in an LP

Comments First of all, it has an awesome tone. Really thick, yet not muddy. I mainly used this for cleans, and it did the job quite well, however, I most often used the JB for leads because this pup lacks in the bite and tonality that I look for in a lead solo. I wired this puppy up to support coil tapping. When coil tapped, however, it does drop in volume quite signifigantly. Still sounds awesome, but works more like an actual single coil. It really sounds like it too! I am actually putting this pup back in the neck of an Epi LP project that I've been working on. Due to the sound of the JB I've already installed in the LP, I figure this pup will do very well in it.

Liked about it Very nice, thick, pickup. Coil tapping takes most of the meat out and it sounds like a very well rounded single coil in the neck position.

Didn't like The coil tap lowers the volume so much. It CAN get muddy when coped together with gain.
