Does well at what it's meant to do.

This is a medium output pickup that will work well in a strat-sound situation that doesn't need overpowered distortion. It has a little bite to it, but not enough to make a good hard rock sounding pickup. It works very well for that vintage strat-style crunch tone. It is very bright sounding with little lows -- very punchy.

It has a very snappy tone that works well for some country and pop if needed -- It can make good John Cougar Mellencamp tones as well. Essentially, this pickup does well at what it is suppose to do: Create a strat-sound bite with a moderate output setting. For those of you looking for high distortion and power, check out the hot-rails instead.

I personally didn't like this pickup because, quite simply, I'm more of a fan of high-output pickups. However, I NEED this sound in live situations -- even though I'm more of a fan of high-output distortion -- I have enough pickups and guitars that give that tone. If you want the vintage-style sound with more bite, this is the one to get. If you want more output, get the hot rails.
