JB worth every penny and then some!

Comments I've replaced every guitar ive ever owned (Jem 77FP,Jem 555,RG500,Fixed bridge PGM.............)with a Seymour Duncan TB-JB4. No disrespect at all to the pick ups that were in the guitars, a lot of players swear by them, but as 99% of guitar players know, Tone is a very personal thing.
Seymour Duncan are a very respected pick up design manufacturer and I've never had a faulty pick up since i started playing guitar.

Liked about it Tone is absolutely perfect, it makes guitars sing when using a little less gain on the amp, whilst lowering the gain a little, the pick up makes the overall sound 'fuller' and it's a great response pick up when using the overall mid range(i never was a fan of the 'scooped' sound). It also works incredibly well when backing of the volume on the guitar,If your playing in high gain territory you can back off the volume through Classic Rock to soulful blues.

Didn't like Nothing at all, just wish they were buy one get one free!

I love the JB pickup. I have one in my Fender.....

Comments I love the JB pickup. However, this one is REVERSE ZEBRA, not just "reverse". There's really no difference between this and a normal humbucker in the sense of polarity. I love the JB. It sounds great for Metal (i.e. Megadeth), Rock, etc, as well as clean. It's also wound a tad hot, which is great for switching over to it during solos. Seymour Duncan distinguishes the TB-4 from the SH-4 in the sense that the SH-4 is for non-tremolo guitars and the TB-4 is for tremolo guitars. There's a slight difference, but it's worth making sure you get the right one.

Liked about it 1. The harmonic is insane and the sustain is brilliant.
2. Great for playing rhythm and lead.
3. If you play through a tube amp you will be amazed by the variety of tones you can get from this setup. The JB drives the amp so well.

Didn't like More colors maybe to match the guitar we owned.

My Opinion on the JB

Comments For real heavy metal its not so good as Custom 5 or sh-6 and sh-8. Its warmer to use to Megadeth Rust in Peace sound or old Metallica Master Of Puppets. On a Jackson King V as Mustaine in MD, Hetfield used (just on the puppets)Metallica.

Liked about it Clean is warm, jazzy for clean, to hard rock..

Didn't like Not good enough for me for Metall. Its not good enough compressed, mid, and, enough treble. Bit for Rock, Hard Rock its fine. Its my opnion, and i Like Dimebag, Mustaine etc. But it I like to be closer to a Dimebag sound than the Mustaine if you smell me?

Wonderful pickup!

Comments Put this in the bridge of my Fernandes Dragonfly Elite. It really delivers. I added a dpdt on on on switch to use it series/split/parallel. Clean tone is good. Definitely has a lot of bite to it, will distort a tube amp if you dig into it. I use it split for clean tones. Nice sparkle on the split sound. Distorted it's a beast! Has a wonderful character to it. The sustain (without my sustainer) is wonderful, harmonics are awesome, nice feedback as well. Heavy chug palm muting is not my style, but this delivers.

Liked about it Top three:sustain, split sound, distortion tone.

Didn't like I have no complaints thus far...

The Duncan CLassic.

Comments The jb is a dynamo of a pickup, just enough drive, great clarity, and lovely jumpy clean to it also.
IN most guitars i have owned and had this in it has been paired with the '59 and/or pearly gates and that is one of my all time favorite combos.
The zebra color scheme is not my favorite but slap it in a sunburst LP and you are ready to roll.

Liked about it -It's ability to do any kind of music and do it well.
-Clarity to the pick attack that is unmatched in passive humbuckers under $200
-Sits in well with almost any smooth pickup

Didn't like -Limited colors
