One of the top DAW software packages available

Comments Just as a little background, my Undergraduate Major was in Music Production, and I am finishing up Graduate School in Film Scoring. I have been recording music for the past 10 years or so, so I have used a lot of different software packages in that time, my favorites being Pro Tools and Logic. The reason why I like Pro Tools, is because everyone uses it and the editing seems a little more logical (forgive the pun) than other software packages. But for an overall 'winner' in regards to a complete DAW software package, Logic wins hands down. Logic can really do it all. Recording, editing, mastering, midi, score editing, virtual instruments, etc... It really is the all in one solution. It has killer plugins, some really good virtual instruments, and in Logic 9 some killer guitar amp and pedal simulations. It will turn a Apple desktop or laptop into a professional recording studio, and I really mean it. In capable hands you can get pro sounding recordings and mixes. With a Macbook pro, you can take your pro grade recording studio wherever you go, which is absolutely amazing. Now just as a reminder, you need to have a recording interface if you actually want to record audio tracks into Logic. But if you are fine using just the virtual instruments, you can just make music without the need for an interface. I really can't say enough about this software, I love it!

Liked about it All in one DAW solution
Excellent virtual instruments and effects
Pretty stable without excessive crashes

Didn't like Editing can sometimes be a little convoluted
Can sometimes crash if a lot of RAM is being used (but super often)
The score editor is good, but not great.

Overall satisfaction:
