Great cheap introduction to computer recording

Comments I have one of these which I use to prototype song ideas into Logic Studio 8 (Yes, I haven't upgraded yet!). Has one guitar input and one mic input, and a license for Pod Farm 2 - the plugin that gives you Pod tones. I bought all the model packs so I have the full set of fx etc.

There's was some initial hoohaa about Snow Leopard drivers for this, but so far its been faultless. As well as recording, I use it as a headphone amp by plugging in headphones and using Pod Farm. I can also route the output of iTunes into the headphones and so also use it for learning songs.

Great on the latency front, although I don't do much re-amping anymore as a large number of the instances of the plug in understandably bog down your mac a bit. But the tones are good and usable, and for one band we recorded a number of songs at home using this, Logic and a Midi Drum Kit and got excellent results.

As well as those inputs, there's plenty of outputs too... http://line6.com/podstudioux1/ gives some good info on the capabilities of it. Its great for musicians like me who like to prototype stuff before handing it off to a band.

Liked about it 1) Pod Farm - great piece of software and I've had no issue with it
2) expandable via model packs

Didn't like Pots got a little noisy with use - quick blast of contact cleaner sorts em
