For the budget minded that need a mic preamp this is a nice little device. It's not a tube mic pre, but it will give you a nice quiet recording and you have the phantom power option and plenty of headroom. The added bonus of the classic style VU meters is nice also. No this is not a $3-4000 mic pre and it's not going to change your world, but it will get you a decent recorded mic signal with out adding in any noise. The DMP3 serves it purpose well
