Great Home studio monitors

I got these and immediately noticed a huge difference in sound quality and clarity from the multiple computer speakers I was using previously. I heard sounds in music on my computer that I never knew were there. The frequency response, despite a little less bass, is pretty good. I do supplement the bass with a sub-woofer but on their own, they aren't lacking in bass unless you're looking to shake the walls. As for the mixes, I usually test all my mixes on different speakers anyway, but these translate well. They are not terribly forgiving, which is good because if you get a mix on them that sounds good, it will sound good on just about any hi-fi speaker set-up. That's probably what I like most about them. I tweak away at levels on these and once I get things balanced and sounding good, I don't really need to do much to the mix when I listen back to it on my stereo or computer or car speakers. To that end, they save a lot of time when mixing.

1. Good response across the spectrum in a budget friendly package.
2. Balanced 1/4" inputs.
3. Classy appearance.

1. Bit pricey for a hobbyist at $200 for one monitor . They're good but for just home projects, they might be a bit more than is necessary.

Ok, so my college has a pair of these in its studio, and they look smart, and sound AMAZING. They really are good, they can handle loud lows very well and offer a more than impressive foundation for mixing. The extra 'room control' and 'frequency response' features are a really nice touch but I haven't yet tried playing around with them! I like the fact that these have an XLR as well as a Jack, allows for any kind of setup one could reasonably think of. When I listened to certain bits, pieces and full songs through these, it was much easier to identify each instrument in the mix. As a previous reviewer said, they really do save time when you're mixing!
