Hey all, time to move some gear around again. I have a few items for sale/trade.
For trades, not really sure what im looking for. I need a sustainer system (fernandes or sustainiac) im open to low wattage tube amps, high end pedals, pretty much anything.

First up is a Red neck through Ibanez RGT42FM. has EMG 81/85 installed, wired to a 3 way switch and single volume pot. comes with no name case. condition is prolly 6-7/10, has some dings, missing backplate, but overall in good shape. will get pictures tonight. looking for $350 OBO

Second, i have a late 90's Gibson Explorer Gothic. comes with tkl hard case. has a dimarzio breed in the bridge, and i believe an air norton in the neck, i could be wrong on that. Guitar was signed by Lizzy Hale of Halestorm when the previous owner had it. he clear coated over the signature (not very well). Overall condition, 5-6/10, some finish cracks and chips, the clearcoat issue. but in all a solid, awesome sounding guitar. looking for $800 OBO, dont be afraid to offer!

Third, i have a Line 6 HD100 MKI Guitar Amp head. had this amp since new, about 3 years. in fairly good condition on the outside, no real nicks or bumps. sounds great, never had any issues. Good solid tube amp with awesome modeling.
$ 500 OBO

I also have an almost new Egnater Vengeance Tube Head. i dont really want to part with this one, but if the right offer comes my way, i might. has footswitch and all chords. looking for $900

PICS available by request.

Hit me up!

Hoping to get some info from Tak or any other knowledgeable person on the guitar I am now the proud owner of.
The guitar appears to be based on the 91 AE900 series, but I can't find a 12-string version of this. I am trying to find out if this came out of the custom shop as a 1-off or maybe it's an import model? The info included with it says Paul Chandler painted it (fantastic job), so I've dropped him an e-mail as well.

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi all. First any input/suggestions appreciated.

What follows below is my first attempt at refinishing a guitar. I bought an old square heel RG 560 a year or so ago for a couple hundred bucks. Has a little fret wear and the original owner had a local guitar shop cut the front route to take a humbucker. So essentially tried to convert it to a 570. The color was still the factory finish, but there were some chips in the finish with exposed wood. I was going to repaint it and just try to epoxy in the holes where the chips had occured.

However after pulling the electronics I found that the 'luthier" who had done the original mod had simply freehanded the route. The hole was all "wonky" (crooked) and one of the pickup rings screws didn't actually do anything more than make contact on one side.

I'm not 100% sold on doing this but I'm offering up two killer guitars that both sound fantastic but I find more difficult to play due to their larger neck sizes and frankly, I'm still working my way through to discovering just what I'm after guitar-wise. As much as I tried to adapt, a recent PRS DGT purchase really highlighted my struggle. I'm looking to trade for both but there is a buy me cash price too. Cash prices don't include shipping or paypal fees. I ship via Fed Ex ground, with full insurance for the sale price of the instrument. I can usually ship this way for about $50. The PRS case is quite heavy. I'm located in SW Florida and if you're reasonably close, I'd be happy to meet you half way or you can see the guitars in person locally. Shoot me a PM and I'll pass on my contact info.

I've sold at least two guitars on the forum, pickups, parts, etc..I also have 100% feedback on Ebay (velocityimages) where I've also sold numerous guitars and I've bought items from forum members. I will not be listing these guitars on Ebay as I'm tired of them taking 10% off the top plus paypal fees. Just highway robbery!

Trades considered are:
SC58 plus cash on my end
Stripped 58
Music Man Albert Lee MM90 tremolo (not the HH as I own a DGT and they seem similar)
PRS 305 in powder blue/rosewood neck with a WIDE THIN neck

First up is a beautiful and minty Paul Reed Smith 305 featuring an absolutely classic and timeless combination of a powder blue body and a dark chocolate-colored rosewood fret board. It is unmodified except for a rosewood truss rod cover and rosewood tuner button ends. It is set up with brand new pure nickel strings in 10. The guitar has the wide fat neck profile. Features all the case candy, original case (has one small scuff on one corner) and the guitar does not have any imperfections. I take very good care of my gear and it's played at home in a smoke-free environment. This was my first single coil guitar and while I love the sound and overall feel, the scale length and neck size make me struggle on it. Gets plenty "stratty" but it'll dish out the dirt and get pretty fat when the gain is piled on and still be articulate.

I'd honestly like to trade for a Paul Reed Smith PRS Stripped 58 with either the 57/08 pickups or 59/09's. I'd go straight up on a Stripped 58. I would also be willing to do a partial trade towards an SC58 plus cash on my end. Trade value is $2100 and cash price is $2000 for me to part with this. I may even consider an identical 305, same color, with the wide thin neck. This guitar does get very strat-like. Pretty darn flexible, super articulate and really full sound. Very resonant unplugged, probably due to the set neck. It's really just a better (IMO), up to date Strat. Not sure what it weighs, probably in the 7 pound range. It isn't heavy at all.

Next is a beautiful 2004 Gibson Les Paul Standard which features a great top with excellent grain and peek-a-boo flame. It's somewhere between a tea and a light burst and it has the one-piece back and a "on the thin side" 50's neck. Not huge (PRS 305 has a wider neck) It is a weight relieved model and it's about 8.75 pounds of truly stunning, thick, LP tone. Chords are huge with a great bottom end that isn't flabby thanks to all the upgrades. This is a well-cared for player with excellent frets, doesn't need a fret job but some natural relic'ing here and there because it's a great-playing instrument with incredible sound!

Upgrades include the full Callaham stainless ABR-1 bridge with Nashville stainless steel one-piece conversion studs, Callaham stainless tailpiece, ReWind Creme Brûlée pickups with brushed nickel covers, Gotoh Kluuson vintage-style locking tuners and amber speed knobs. These pieces (minus the speed knobs!) really woke this guitar up and it's just a fantastic-sounding instrument. The ReWind pickups are really second to none and they a lot of stuff so well. They are PAF-style vintage voiced. James from ReWind also wired up a 50's style combo featuring matched vintage TVT 500K pots and Russian caps. Really good stuff! www.re-wind.net for more information. The Callaham was professionally installed by professional luthier and guitar builder extraordinaire Ross Teigen and he also notched the saddles and set the instrument up. These upgrades alone cost about $570, not including labor.

It comes in the original Gibson chainsaw case (white lining) which is in very good condition, a few scuffs but mechanically perfect, with very little of the original case candy (I'll have to look to see what's there), the original bridge and tailpiece, gold witch hat knobs and original tuners. It does not have the poker chip or the pick guard. No holes from pick guard mounting (as it never was). Easy to add those things if you like that look.

The natural play wear includes worming on the back, a small indentation on the front surface, a small chip on the base of the guitar and light surface swirling. Nothing major, the neck is clean and the headstock is in great condition with a few minor surface imperfections and really small chips but no major dings or cracks. NO breaks or any mechanical issues whatsoever, it's just not a 100% mint instrument. I'm at work posting this (sorry boss) and if you're interested in the guitar, I'll go over it with a fine toothed comb to

Looking for an even trade with a PRS Stripped 58, partial trade towards an SC58 or a Music Man Albert Lee MM90 trem plus cash. Guitars do not have to be mint if it's honest play wear and not just damage from being abused and not cared for. Trade value is $2100, cash price is $1900 with modifications, $1600 with stock parts plus the DiMarzios.

The modifications really do make this a killer instrument but if one so desires, I can swap in the stock items and slot in a set of DiMarzio Air Classics with polished nickel covers that I have lying around. I'll lower the price by $300.

Do you have any suggestions? I want to spend a bit of money on this guitar, since im not a beginner. ;)

Hi guys!
I'm sadly selling my beloved 1989 Ibanez 540 PII.
Even it's not a Signature Model, it is usually known as the Alex Skolnick model, who used it for a number of years with his band Testament.
Made in Japan, production was very limited, if you're reading this ad I'm sure you know what we're talking about.
Main features:

- White basswood body.
- Original Ibanez Edge tremolo "Cosmo" finished in great shape + whammy bar.
- DiMarzio humbuckers, Liquifire (B) + Norton (N), both white, installed brand new.
- 22 fret maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, shark tooth inlays and reversed headstock. Gorgeous!

The general condition of the guitar is really good and super comfortable.
The only issue to mention are all the chips and dings around the body, mainly in the edges area (see pics).
Neck is simply perfect, none of the typical fissures of this kind of neck, and frets in excellent shape.

Pics here: https://picasaweb.google.com/ibanezfan1/IBANEZ540PII

Asking 950€ + Shipping anywhere in the world, firm.
For shipments outside Spain I will not include the hardcase and will send it disassembled.
I have a lot of experience sending guitars this way to EU and USA and never had any problem.
No trades this time guys, I need cash to recover from some bills I had to pay.
But, they're already payed, so I'm not in a hurry and I'm not lowering the price!!
Cheers,

Miguel.

WOO! It's here! Bought this from the Ibanez Guitar Centre in Adelaide, after trying to find one here in Melbourne with no luck (only one local store even bothered to reply to my email, can you believe it?). So far so awesome! I've already noticed that it's bringing things out of my playing that I don't do on my 7-strings, especially in terms of extended chord voices and fingerpicky things.

I'll be replacing the stock EMG 808s with a Seymour Duncan Pegasus and Sentient soon, althoguh I'll hang on to the EMGs for the occasional recording session. I can't recommend this guitar highly enough.
You must pay with cashiers check (ideally Chase or Capital One) OR if you use PayPal we split the fees. Everything is in tip top shape, no functional issues, the head is clean as a whistle. Footpedal has some dust but only because it sits on well the floor. This thing looks new!

Selling only because I need to downgrade, my band is out of order for good.

Other then Canada absolutely no international deals unless you are going to come pick it up. I am in South Texas however if you live anywhere Central TX (Austin) or south of it I can bring to you if you are paying cash. PM me we can discuss meeting somewhere.

I'd consider trades for a PRS, Ernie Ball Musicman Axis, Ibanez Prestige, High End strat, Gibson Les Paul but ideally a Mesa Boogie combo or Triaxis+cash. Ideally I need cash for some home renovations.

See pictures its in good shape. Many people have told me it looks brand new. Tubes in great shape and most importantly no functional issues no scratchyness on pots or weird clicks/noises. Plug in and it is ready to go - will knock your socks off.
I sought this guitar for YEARS to find one in this condition, there are very minor body chips and MINIMAL fretwear on this thing. I don't even play it because I don't want to wreck it.

Mods include: EMG 85, EMG SA, Dimarzio Orange Clip-Lok. Also multicolor knobs/selector tip. This thing was setup to look and be an 80's slaying machine.

NOTE ABOUT THE PAINT ON PICKUPS - The paint on the EMGs is a base layer of PLASTI-DIP followed up by the two colors and a clear coat. The paint is solid and will hold up, however you can PEEL it off without any harm to the pickups. I tested it multiple times to ensure it is not permanent and will not harm the pickup.

$700 comes with the case.
I have encountered worn knife edges and "v"s in the posts before, I recently spent about $50 from Rich's site buying new parts. I don't want to have to buy new ones. Is .009 the highest I can go? I switch between .10s and .009s on my other guitars, I'm just not sure if the metal is strong enough for anything else, everything I do is standard tuning. Thanks.

I'm looking for a new bridge pickup for my RGT320. If you aren't familiar with this guitar, it's a neck-thru, so it has the 5-piece maple/wenge running all the way through, mahogany wings and a maple cap. I replaced the stock DiMarzio/IBZ pickups some time ago with a Crunch Lab/Liquifire setup.

I can't say enough good about the Liquifire, but the Crunch Lab isn't doing it for me. I actually really like the tight and pretty open bass and mids, but I find the treble sound horribly grating. I'm a big 80's rock/metal fan, so I always gravitate toward more classic PAF-type sounds. So I want to keep the nice, tight rhythm sounds of the Crunch Lab but also get something that sounds better up top. And I want something different than what I have. And it has to be DiMarzio because this guitar has direct mount pups.

Here's what I have:

PAF Pro - I have these in a few classic Jems and have always loved them.

FRED - I have this in a JS and an RG. This might be my favorite bridge pickup. I love the way the harmonics pop out.

F2 - I also really love this pickup. I know it's often described as being like the Tone Zone, but I don't buy that.

Tone Zone - I don't really like this pickup. I think it sounds OK in the one guitar I have it in, but it's only because I don't want to molest the guitar. I think these ate horribly harsh sounding.

Norton - I have this in a mahogany J.Custom and like the sound of it quite a lot. I only wish it were more harmonic happy.

Duncan JB - Holy harmonics! That part is great but the overall sound is not as refined as some of the DiMarzio stuff.

There are a few others, but they're more of a "they come in that guitar" and aren't worth mentioning here.

Which brings me to the Breed. I like that it's described as a more modern PAF Pro, I like that it has alnico magnets, and i like that it's described as being harmonic happy. But the EQ curve has me a bit spooked. I don't like seeing the bass spiked like that and I'm worried that the pickup will be muddy and lack definition. But maybe I'm just being paranoid?

I know that's a lot to read but I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

Bumps, bruises, knicks, dings, plenty of wear and carbon scoring (OK, no carbon scoring). Has not had a recent setup (and I'm reluctant b/c I have 11s on here, lol), but when she's tuned up for you...it's glorious. I just don't play this (or any of my trem'd fiddles) all that much any more, but when I do, I smile....big.

Was hard to guess-ti-mate a fair price and feel free to make offers/trades, but I'm really looking to free up some room and gain some $$$ (via regular PayPal). I know shipping will be painful, so rather than give it away, I will be content to break it out every so often and get that big smile. It was worn in nicely when I got it and I love-Love-LOVE that broken-in feel, but I just don't give it the love it needs. Not fancy-looking and is not in an obnoxious 80s color like a lot of RG's I love, but it screams and does not require babying or wearing of a microfiber suit, haha.

$450 shipped and PayPal'd in CONUS, elsewhere = we can figure it out
I've noticed something a bit weird when I use my lo pro for the first time every practice.

Could it be ancient knife edges or overlubed / underlubed posts perhaps?

So I was thinking about doing some sort of guitar build as a summer project. However, I'm debating whether to start completely from scratch with all new parts, or use part of what I have already.

I have a 3-4 ish year old RG350MDX. I absolutely hate the neck and the trem, but from my understanding the trem can be replaced with an edge pro, or with some redrilling, an OFR.

However, the idea of building a guitar from scratch seems really interesting, that and I've seen some fairly cheap square heel wizard necks. I also have heard good things about Nate Pearle's necks and bodies.

That being said, here are my ideas:

1) Put a new neck, bridge, and pickups on my RG.

2) Buy a JEM body from Nate and a Wizard neck and start from scratch.

3) Buy a nnd a body from Nate and build a custom JS.

Any feedback and/or tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I want to take just the trem out and put in the original trem which was of course the Edge pro.

Now my questions is, without trying to hunt down some Ibanez edge pro studs and inserts and having to dowel fill redrill for the edge pro ones, will the current OFR studs work ok with the edge pro tremolo?. Has this been done and what are the issues with doing this?.

I wont be doing any crazy dive bombing stuff.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Forum Members & Guests,

I started this site/forum a while back as a civil place for Ibanez Jem/UV players to share their enthusiasm of these guitars with others around the world. It's expanded over time to a wider scope.

As times change so does the way we communicate. People were on dial-up 56k modems when Jemsite started and didn't text message while driving. 9-year olds didn't have smartphones, neither did adults for that matter. Forum software just began a migration from Usenet.

What does not change is the expectation at all times to be civil and respectful of who you are communicating with. ALWAYS! Each and every reply/post on the forum.
EVEN IF YOU THINK THE OTHER PERSON IS HIGHLY ANNOYING AND TOTALLY WRONG!

So to interact on jemsite it's expected that you will use good judgment before posting a reply (or new topic). Before you reply to others it's required for you to pause for thought, preview/re-read your reply for sensibility AND THEN post the reply. If you are "arguing" or agitated (with a stranger you never met mind you) then you probably should reply LATER on. While the forum doesn't allow drafts, you can write up a post, save it (email yourself, skydrive.com or evernote.com) and then edit it later when it's a better time.

Since we all clearly understand the Earth is still round...

Moderators will be more actively handing out vacations for 3, 5, 7 days then really long times to anyone who makes rude or inappropriate posts.

Remember the Chat forum offers a place to act out a little. The internet is loaded with places to go and troll and act like RUDE IMMATURE TODDLERS. Jemsite is not one of them. It will not be one of them. If in the real world day-to-day life you are actually quite RUDE AND IMMATURE STILL (thankfully people mostly grow, mature & gain wisdom) you still need to post here as a respectful human being.

Always :)

Thanks... glen

I picked this up a bit ago from another Jemsiter. I'm looking to trade it because after owning multiple prs and gibsons, I want to try more of those types of guitars.

I had a deal with someone regarding this Jem, but he's a busy guy and it doesn't seem that important to him. I kind of owed him because he missed out on a prior Jem I was selling.
But now here it is!

It's a 1987 obviously... It has the palmrest as well as a fancy little drawing under the signature and number by vai. The case is non original I believe, but the prior owner claimed it came new with the guitar. It has small wear on 3 bass saddles on the trem as well as the neck plate. Small njfc on the neck joint, tiny nick under the lions claw tremolo and on the back, there's a splotch where the green is just a tad darker. It may be able to be professionally cleaned off, I'm not too sure. But, this Jem is great. #376

As for what I'm looking for. Mainly Paul Reed Smith or Gibson guitars. I will entertain all offers though.
An even trade would be nice however I may accept trades + cash.

Pm me with questions
Modifications (if any): None, all stock! She does have a few dings, but considering her age (23) she is in excellent condition. If you are looking for a killer player from the golden age of Ibanez, this is it.

Accessories (hardshell case etc): Comes with the trembar, but i don´t have the original case or any case for the guitar. I can ship it with a case, but we have to work something out for that posibility.

Contact Info (No Phone #s) PM me here

References Required (eBay or other forum userid): Sold and bought a couple of things here, ebay user id is samuelbroers and got 100% feedback

Price (include currency and if firm/obo): 1400 euro´s (paypal is fine, but gift option) and that´s including shipping within Europe. I pack good, so the guitar won´t damage and it will have loads of foam and bubble plastic within it´s shipping box. NO trades!

I would like to stick to the EU, but international shipping is an option. If you have any questions, let me know.

Hey everyone my 1st post for advice on here so sorry in advance.....

I won a Ibanez Ergodyne EDR-470 a few weeks back, the guitar needed a bit of work and upkeep so I took it to my local shop. I asked them if they could do a service and a restore if possible, I got it back a day ago and went to play it but it wasn't in the tuning I had requested which was B-E-A-D-F-G. The tuning was C standard which the guitar was in.

When I called them up to tell them and that I also wasn't 100% on how to set the guitar up for new tuning being as this was my 1st guitar with a Edge style Tremolo so could someone show me how to do it.

The guitar tech said there was not any point in me turning up and having him show me how to set the guitar for such a low tuning, due to the Edge Trem on my guitar is not made to have low tuning and that no guitar with this style Trem is able to go any lower that C standard. I was a bit taken back by this because I know loads of guitarists that play in bands who use drop B or C and lower tuning and they use guitars with simular style Trems, being as I'm a 1st timer with these kinda set ups I didn't wanna sound stupid on the phone to him so I thought I'd do it here lol.

So what I'm asking is, would I be able to tune my Ergodyne to my bands B Tuning or is the guitar Tech correct and I wont be able to Tune lower than drop C with this kind of Tremolo? he also said that there aren't any other tremolos of this style that will allow guitars to go that low including nearly all Floyd Rose Trems .

Any help or advice would be great I'm a noob to these Tremolo set ups so sorry in advance if I frustrate anyone.

This has sent people into a frenzy here, wondering why money would be spent on this, how it relates to Canberra, the fact that it isn't owned by Canberra or the Government, even after spending all the money on it.

I have to say it's pretty damned funny as an artwork. It's certainly got people talking, even around the world. I've seen articles in the US, UK, Lebanon even!

Just thought I'd share this hilarious (and controversial in our town) piece of art. :)

What can I use to remove the super glue that would be safe for the finish? Acetone?

A couple of you recently watched me let a really nice guitar slip through my fingers and go to some ass that promptly turned around and posted it on ebay trying to make a heinous profit... so in the spirit of never letting that happen again, plus my unnatural obsession with Japanese guitars (don't know if this is one of course), I need you guys to help once again.

This is a tough one. Out of focus, and tough for me to find on the webs. But, I can see that it has slightly slanted pickups, and I see a similar looking guitar in an ad from 1986... original owner is selling for $100. Is this thing junk as it seems like the owner thinks? Or... GOLD?!?!?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

EDIT: The guitar I thought it was similar to is an RG 440 from 1986...

I thought it would be interesting-ish to compare the weights and neck dimensions of various guitars. I wanted to find out how the weights compare to eachother and also how the neck dimensions compare to the published dimensions.

I haven't gotten to the neck dimensions yet (need to order a set of digital calipers from Stew Mac), but here are the weights from high to low. Feel free to add your own.

'06 ESP M-1 Tiger - 9 lb, 14 oz

Just had to throw that all maple tank in there, just for comparison

'03 RG8670TB - 8 lb, 15 oz
'06 RG8620SNT - 8 lb, 5 oz
'06 RGT320QRBB - 8 lb, 0 oz
'92 JEM777GMC - 7 lb, 15 oz
'89 JEM7PBK - 7 lb, 12 oz
'91 UCGR "Leather & Metal" - 7 lb, 12 oz
'91 JEM777FP - 7 lb, 9 oz
'88 JEM777SK - 7 lb, 9 oz
'91 RBM1BK - 7 lb, 9 oz
'87 JEM777LNG - 7 lb, 8 oz
'90 JS1WH - 7 lb, 8 oz
'87 540P - 7 lb, 4 oz
'90 UCGR "Strung Out" - 7 lb, 4 oz
'87 540SDY - 7 lb, 3 oz
'90 UCGR "Surprise - 6 lb, 15 oz
'90 UCGR "Strung Out" - 6 lb, 15 oz
'91 RBM2NT - 6 lb, 15 oz
'89 540P-SHDY - 6 lb 10 oz

I was not surprised at all that the small body 540P was the lightest guitar, but it surprised me how beefy the J.Customs were. I also found it interesting that the Jems were consistently heavier than the RG-style UCGR's. But my biggest surprise was the RBM2 being so light. Since it's an oil-finished guitar, I'm wondering if it hasn't dried out considerably over the years.

Selling a '90 USA Custom with the "Strung Out" graphic. This is a very early production UCGR. The guitar has the "765" style with a F2 bridge humbucker and C2 neck single coil as well as a rosewood sharktooth neck. Like all UCGR's with this pickup configuration, it has a coil split switch for the humbucker.

The guitar is in very good condition overall with the only flaws being chips in the paint. The hardwear is in excellent condition and freatwear is almost non-existent. Only some minute traces of it on the first three frets. This leads me to believe that the guitar had very little play time, but was unfortunately not handled with the utmost care. There are no neck joint cracks and no nut cracks. There are some edge chips on the guitar as well as some other flaws on the top and medium buckle rash on the back. See pictures below for details. The guitar includes a Prestige Deluxe case.

Most of the flaws are in the black paint and could probably be fixed fairly easily by a professional. Or the guitar would make a great player, which is what I had intended for it. I'm selling it because I found a more pristine version of the same guitar.

Pricing this guitar at $625 plus shipping.
Oh btw, since I can't edit my first post and I felt I should mention this since it doesn't say it in the OP, the dent that I speak of.. it's not really a dent. It's a tiny little bump in the paint, and it's extremely small. I wish I could post pictures to show just what I mean but I can't, so don't be deterred because you think it's like this giant dent or something. It's ridiculously small.
PM for pictures.

Got this from a fellow Jemsite member yesterday. It's a bit of a Frankenstein but looks amazing. 1st year '93 neck on a '01 7VWH body. The body only has 1 small nick on the edge by the lower strap button. Aftermarket pickguard with what looks to be an older JEM single with logo on cover and newer bridge and neck Evolutions without logo. Dimarzio 5-way switch. It had all black hardware and original Edge but I switched it with a gold set with Lo Pro that I had in another guitar. Has had a neck repair at some point but seems fine. Not a big deal for me. Spent about 3 hours yesterday afternoon tearing it down for a good cleaning and parts swap. Set-up now with 10-46 strings and plays like a dream. I absolutely love the ebony board. Wanted another one since my '86 Proline. Your fingers just glide across the smooth ebony when doing chord or note slides. Put it through the paces last night at band practice and couldn't be happier. Neck refinish with tung oil today and it will be in tip top shape. Thanks to Dennis for the deal. On with the pics.
