Re: Jemsite.com 4/20/2017 site update 9:30am-1:00pm & downtime

I'm not sure where to stick this, but in my browser (IE) everything is a mess. For starters, I'm seeing a "Welcome to the Jemsite" top panel telling me I'm 80% done getting started (??). I've been a registered user since 2002 and I'm logged in (it recognizes my username). Plus all of the forum material is squeezed into the left 2/3 of the screen with ads (my favorite is "Find your own Latin Beauty!"), mini-banners and Recent Discussions in the right 1/4 of the screen.

Is it supposed to look like this?

Banners are showing in IE [where I have my add blocker on, go figure]

But not in Firefox which is my default with no add block.

Hi Lee, yes so those two banners are probably expected to show on the top of each page where only one random banner appears now

Yes, I had expected them in the side bar, there was nothing there in Firefox though, they are showing now.
They seem much smaller there, even though they're probably the same size, maybe it's because the fonts and everything else is so much larger.

One more oddity for me -- There must be some script or process hanging in the background because every time I come to JemSite, after a minute or two my laptop fan kicks on and never shuts down. Something is sucking resources but I can't figure out what specific process is the culprit. The only other site where I get that behavior is Huffington Post which is so clogged up with scripts that it's nearly impossible to navigate.

does teh speed of the site get affected? I'm not too sure what's happening there. I run websites on my mini desktop.
