You guys have hit the nail in the head...

The "Add a New Product" feature is a power tool that needs to be given only to power-users that we know won't be adding duplicate products right-and-left. And even then, it needs to be moderated by someone (me for now) that will make sure the new product that has been added - is not already there under a slightly different name. So there is the Add the Product, there is the moderation behind it and it doesn't end there... because we want to allow these power-users to "Add a New Product" and "Review it" in the same go - and that poses certain complexity too because we are allowing a user to review a product that is moderated (as opposed to published). See - you now know alot more about this feature that you ever wanted.

I still hope to launch it later today (Thursday).

Oh... and one last clarification -just in case it isn't clear. The Reviews component, as it is now, does allow for multiple members to review the same product and offer different opinions on it. And this of course will continue to be the case.

I'm trying to get a pic in but when I go to photo bucket and try to copy and
paste the image in the pic box(where the brouse button is), right click won't function..
My pic is way bigger than 300kb more like 1.2mb.Is there anyway around this?

DUDE it's written BROWSE there so you have to BROWSE a pic from your computer and not a LINK to it.

If you can't find a "lighter picture" then don't worry too much about it. We can have the product without a picture for now and once we find stores that sell it, we will get the picture from one of these.

I am happy to see another great Jemsite contributor join the Jemsite Reviewers Club!! Welcome aboard DEADTUNES666!! Keep them coming!

I also wanted to let you know that I'll be heading out on vacation tomorrow for two and a half weeks... I will connect every now and then and I will publish the new reviews that will come in but I won't have time for much more than that.

I hope to see a bunch of great quality reviews everytime I log-in!!!!

We are fixing some bugs on the functionality that allows selected members to add new products. Reviews for products that are already part of Jemsite Comparison Shopping works perfectly well.

Sorry for the confusion.

And I am still hoping that today we will be able to fix the bugs on the "Add new products" option. I'll post about it if we manage to re-launch that again. Thanks!

OK - I am happy to let you know that we've fixed all known bugs associated with the "Add New Product" feature that has been made available to a few members. Accordingly, you can go ahead and continue adding products that you'd like to review and you've found them missing from Jemsite Comparison Shopping.

You are also able to choose OTHER as the brand and suggest a new brand not yet covered.

IMPORTANT: Before adding a new product please hit the keys CTRL and F5 while on the Add New Product screen to make sure your browser gets the latest version with the bug-fixes.

As I said, I am heading out on vacation but this should work well... If there are new bugs - we'll fix them in a few weeks when I am back.

Jemsiters - I am back after what I believe to be the longest time off-line in the last 10 years!

While I was away we crossed the 200 Reviews mark which is an exciting milestone.

Thanks, I enjoy giving reviews to help my fellow musicians and i will try to add as many items as i have a chance to totally review and have suficient time with.

The reviews are definately a step in the right direction.

I just posted my first review, and would love to post more, but in my case I rarely buy new gear....particularly guitars and amps. Is there any chance of adding older stuff that while not still being produced, are still being bought and sold in large numbers in the used market?

I'd really love to be able to give my opinions on the various oldschool Ibby shredders and other stuff.

With regards to adding new stuff... We are opening it up for members to help us expand the coverage of Jemsite Comparison Shopping. If you want to add a product click here. PLEASE check first to make sure the product doesn't already exist in the system.

Also, a couple of quick updates about the Jemsite Reviews Initiative:

I am finally going to be investing time in approaching gear manufacturers and ask them for gear for Jemsite Reviewers to test and review... I think we now have enough quality reviews to show that we are serious about this. I hope to be able to announce the first products for Jemsite Reviewers towards the end of October!
We are going to put up a "Reviews" page that will show featured reviews, top 10 Reviewers and more... Stay Tunned!!
Reviewer Of The Month... We will be launching a monthly contest for Reviewer of the Month... Stay Tunned for the announcement next week on the contest rules and prize.
