OK, the new server is being tested by the data center and ready to be released. I should have access to it within 24 hours

The server is running, the site copied and vBulletin forum software running.

I've inquired about setting up a time/date to BACKUP this forum and RESTORE it to the new server so that everything is intact.

This could happen as soon as TOMORROW and most likely this week.

The forum will be CLOSED to BACKUP (1-2 hours) and after that will be READ ONLY (you can read existing posts/pms but not POST/SEND) until the board is restored on the new server.

a "temporary" board is also ready to go where we can post if needed... glen

what do you guys think of the speed early on?

i'm noticing good speed overall and some VERY noticably fast speeds on admin stuff like IP search, edit, etc. IP search might have taken 30 seconds i just ran in 5

i have noticed an increase in speed quite a bit. for the past month or two, the forums were lagging, and now, everything's just fine and dandy!

vBulletin 3.60 shipped out today and i'm going to install this sooner than later for security and improved featureset reasons.

we'll lose iTrader for a few weeks (until that is updated).

I'll try to give some notice but the board will be down for about an hour... glen

sorry but these are taking alot of space and make backups difficult. also too many people are using this like AOL/IM.

anyone who needs more can get them if they really want.

also, LOCATION field is going to be mandatory so when you login it will send you to UserCP to add the LOCATION.

The speed improvement is welcome, nice and fast now.

BTW, Glen, is there a delay between when a new member registers an account and when they can post? A friend of mine just registered (sic666) and he's wondering how long it'll take.
