Promoting/Advertising on Jemsite (for yourself or others)

Recent activity necessitates an announcement.

Here at the Forum, there have been an increased amount of solicitations and promotions by "members/people" who might also be a reseller/dealer, offer a service, product or other specialty of interest. This occurs, even though the first FAQ Forum Rule states clearly: The following is prohibited on the Jemsite Forum: Advertising, spam or other unsolicited posts. This includes Dealer or reseller ads in *any* forum area.

Unless you are a performing artist promoting your stuff in the "players" area, solicitations of any type are not acceptable and unwelcome (barring a pre-arranged agreement with special circumstance)

Not only is this an obvious courtesy to members who dread intrusions like a telemarketer's phone call at home, but this is absolutely necessary for the Forum to continue since it serves the Jemsite/Forum sponsors of present and the future.

If you would like to participate as a sponsor and promote your services on jemsite, please contact me so we can discuss that

I'd like to post a quick followup, as there have been a very select few public complaints (none sent privately BTW) about the cuss-filter blocking certain FOR PROFIT MUSIC WEB/STORES and **** links.

This is done to protect the site sponsors.... the fine folks who help allow the site and forum to exist. Why there is debate about protecting these folks is MIND BOGGLING, and personally downright offensive. You owe them thanks to the simple, yet overlooked fact, that you can read and post here at no cost... anytime.... 24/7/365

Since these "for profit stores" do NOT contribute in any way to jemsite/forum, I don't appreciate giving them free advertising, especially when it is at the expense of our own members/sponsors. I don't see these blocked vendors as providing giveaways for forum members, discounts to or members here, or providing any special service to jemsite visitors. There might be "deals" and "closeouts" to be had but unfortunately these sales come DIRECTLY at the expense of the fine folks helping this site stay afloat.

Direct links to them are not welcome and are squelched by the forum software.

If you believe this is "censorship of freedom of public speech" then I'm sorry to say that we have a large difference of opinion and that your "freedoms" are best exercised elsewhere.

Exceptions apply to every rule, but common sense always prevails. Thanks.... glen
