Security clampdown READ ASAP (multiple logins, IP tracking, contacting others)

OK, i'm going to be clamping down more to keep track of fake/fraudulent posters and problematic people.

#1. We're tracking MULTIPLE USERNAME LOGINS (which is NOT permitted) for the last month so if you are using multiple IDs we know who you are. You have until Sunday to PM me explaining yourself (and which ID to delete) or you're gone. Notable exception to Rich/Richelle

#2. Registered User verification of IP: New members who register, do NOT have access to anything on jemsite except the new "verify" forum where they must post a new thread. After about an hour they'll be "promoted" to member and have full access. This will be used to verify people's identity and IP.

#3. Only verified members can contact you and see your info: no longer can someone register, never post and PM/email you. In fact only "verified members" (and moderators/admin) can view your PROFILE/CONTACT page. This helps stops anonymous people from emailing you or seeing your yahoo-AOL-IM id and ringing you.

#4. Use smarts in the classifieds: if a new (or old) member contacts you about items for sale first do a search for their posts. You can see their IP (soon) in the "Verify member" forum. Unfortunately alot of you guys and girls are careless about purchasing online and this will help protect you from yourselves

#5. Newly registered members who finished the "account activation" must now post in the VERIFY FORUM AREA in order to see the rest of the forum & post elsewhere. Your promotion after posting in the VERIFY FORUM is automated to run every half hour about 25min and 55min past the hour (1:25, 1:55, 2:25, 2:55, etc) so it can take up to a HALF HOUR for your account to get "promoted". After posting a NEW TOPIC in here you will get promoted automatically. You will then be able to: post new messages, reply to messages, send and receive Private Messages, Contact other members (depending on their privacy settings), have all the full forum priviledges of "verified members", etc. Note that in this forum area ONLY your IP address will be visible to other "verified members", moderators and admin. Your IP will NOT be visible to guests, spambots, banned or suspended members. This is to VERIFY your location and confirm that you have an identifying address, you are not some scammer from Nigeria pretending to be in Florida or the UK.

#6. Users suspended for having multiple forum usernames will have to post in the VERIFY forum to reactivate one of their accounts. #7. Server IP bans - It seems some troublemakers can't stay away from the site after they are suspended and/or banned so now they won't be able to view jemsite.com in any manner. If you misbehave then send nasty emails please realize you will NOT be have access to ANY PART of jemsite again

Why dont we just impliment a system that does IP tracking (I know of a few sites that do it) to set a general area as a default untill they change it themselves.

I don't see how IP tracking will work on those with dialup (dynamic IP). You get a new IP every time you connect to your ISP.
