Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

I have no crash issues, although I'm running Win7.

the reason why there is no way to force the iPhone to use non-mobile versions of sites is because it's supposed to ignore mobile CSS anyway. I've tested this with a site I built for work recently. That's why I'm surprised this is an issue.

hopefully they'll get that working soon.

Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

Thanks for the feedback here... We'll work on fixing this but we have something else we need to handle now... I want to set expectations that we may have Jemsite working fine on iPhone in the next 48 hours but it may take us a week - again - we have a pressing issue to handle.

We will post here as we make changes and solicit your feedback.

We've made some changes - Can iPhone users check Jemsite on their iPhone and report back?

Thanks!

Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

Well the site is loading up again, which is fantastic, and it has the standard style sheet loaded. Although it's doing something a little weird. It is loading a section of stuff that is typically found at the bottom of the site to the side, so it's like two columns.

If you have Safari installed check it out in the Developer mode with the iPhone user agent. If you cannot install Safari I'll try an do screenshot soon. Just gotta put my little man to bed now.

Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

Wonderfull, much much much better. The latest threads page loaded slightly zoomed out with an odd grey boarder around the bottom and right side but the threads them selves look excelent. You can't zoom out further than full screen on an iPhone so the grey boarder must have been something rendered by the website.

Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

Yeah thread pages are just right I think now. Altough cutting out a bunch of the stuff like the ad banners, etc would be preferable as they add to download times (and cellular data usage) on mobile devices.

Thanks for the effort.
I know I'm in a minority, but it even looks better under Windows Mobile!
Cheers,

Hope my last fix made the homepage better. Give me a feedback if any of the other pages look bad.

Re: State of the site when browsing on the iPhone or other mobile devices

looks better in safari developer mode using iPhone agent.

is there a way to flow the top banners not locking 4 per row but instead allowing them to freely flow/wrap? that would improve the mobile experience (and those on low res) imho as it would eliminate horizontal scrolling... glen
