2001 UV777bk has different pickups - took em out and theyre

i had a 98 UV777bk, the scalloped one, and the blaze II's in it had the same wiring color configuration as all the other dimarzios, the covers were gloss black, and the bottom plate was metal. *well, i just got my 2001 UV777bk, went to change the pickups and noticed that the covers are matte black instead of gloss (which i like much better), the wiring color configuration is different, and the bottom plate is plastic. *upon noticing these changes, i payed much closer attention to the pickups and realized that they sound a bit different as well-----a little higher output and a little smoother response (maybe this has something to do with the bottom plate difference?). *has dimarzio changed the pickups on us for the better? *i like them a lot better, even though the change is so subtle that i didnt even notice at first. *what mainly intrigues me is the difference is wiring colors------why are all other dimarzios different than the new blaze II's? * any answers?

I haven't been inside my '99 UVbk yet - (next week is the big week I'll be putting that new single coil in
I'll let you know what the wiring colors are. *Maybe the change came earlier than you think...

But my '99 doesn't have shiny pickups - they're matte also.

I don't have anything to compare the sound with.

Weird, I have a 2000 UV777BK and the pickups are a nice glossy black. *But then, there's a few things on my UV that seem to be a little weird anyway.

I thought the older models had the glossy pickups and the newer models have the satin black pickups?

I have a '98 uv777pbk and it has the "glossy" pickups. *I have played Oakman's '99 model with the "satin" pickup and did not notice a difference. *I just think Dimarzio received a different lot of bobbins
