Gone Scallopped!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone,

This week I was at the LACS and I decided to make all of my necks on my Ibanez customs scallopped. I'm having the boys scallopped the entire neck!

I first started off scallopping the 21st - the 24th, then 15th-24th, then the 12th-24th. Then I said what the hell, scallop the whole damn thing. See I'm a touch player, I don't choke my neck at all. I'll post some pics in the near future. Have a great day everyone and it was great meeting a bunch of you at NAMM!

It's similar to the death grip you use while you're choking your chicken.

My main guitar is a modified RG 550 with a scalloped neck.
I hardly ever play any of my other RG's anymore.

I'm guessing I'll have to scallop them too!!!!

I prefer a comforting, gentle grip personally

What kind of neck thickness do you have on your 550? I love 17-19 mm Super Witard necks, but i guess you cannot scallop those, since they are very thin already???

i've got an '87 RG550 that i bought with a VERY deeply scalloped fretboard, literally through the inlays and side dots, almost through the whole fretboard. and I have no problems with warping when using 9's

Re: Gone Scallopped!!!!!!!!

That's good to hear... I picked up a beat up RG550 with divots in the fretboard. It looks like someone attacked it with a screwdriver. I'm gonna try scalloping it. How do you all scallop you fretboard? Sand it down or use a file or a dremel?

Two different guides, one for 21-24:

http://projectguitar.com/tut/scalloped.htm

And full neck:

http://projectguitar.com/tut/scal1.htm

Or you can get one of our trusty sponsors to do t for you for a price.

Re: Gone Scallopped!!!!!!!!

my guitar only has 21 frets, would the 21-24 guide work the same for a 18-21?

Re: Gone Scallopped!!!!!!!!

I would read over the full scallop guide and follow that one rather than the 21-24, it has more/better information to get you through it.
