i respect the JEM/Universe for revolutionising shred guitar, but i wouldnt want a signature guitar.. my reason for prefering the RG series, which is essentially a JEM without the bells and whistles and at a much more affordable price and with the right pickups installed.. kicks just as much ass.

.....too bad I can't afford anything but the RG370DX. (Oh well, I'm always saving money for different things. It wont be long before I can join the club.) So, I don't really don't prefer one over another. It's just that I'd rather pull apart an RG to upgrade, instead of an already perfect Jem. I don't want to mess up the Jem.

I have a prestige RG2020XTB and a Jem7VWH .... and even with the piezo NOT in the picture ... the prestige is my main player on stage .......

I prefere prestige for the neck-thru.

Bolt on is stone age technology and will disappear.
I know there is a lot of bolt on fan here, but what the heck is the advantage of a bolt on versus a neckthru? Cannot find anyone except " I am used to bolt on." Its a good reason but its not objective.

Well, I have a neck-thru, but:
a) AANJ ain't half bad
b) on a neck-thru guitar, your body has the same woods as your neck, while a bolt-on has no limits in wood combinations, etc.

Obviously Prestige is the choice for most cause thats what is sold in the USA.

I got a J Custom and its the nicest guitar. I love it..... Plays like butter and not the salt reduced butter !!

jem is definatly cooler looking but i dont know i cant really compare it to some of the j customs made there amazing.

nobody except guitarfreaks knows what a jem is.so i dont mind that.a rg is more simple(i dont say boring,but...)a jem is extreme!collours(somethimes..okey..)neck inlay.it screams!
i think its compare a mercedes slk with mercedes c class.both beautifull.the one more expencive and more extreme.but both great.(i could use bmw 5 and 6 serie)so it is with a jem/rg also.were can we ask non guitarist what they think about these guitars?just for the looks.the quality is both good.so thats no discussion anymore.i like this very much.

ps i have both guitars.

my opinion is that the JEM is a better guitar overall (particularly with resale), but try them both out and decide for yourself~ that's what i try to do always!
