Jem555 vs. Jem7VWH - Which is better?

Hello guys, I'm new here!
I have a couple of questions...

1. What are the differences between Jem555 and Jem7v?

2. Which one i should buy?

3. I heard a rumour that Jem555 it's not so good. How is this proved?

Thanks a lot!

Jem555 vs. Jem7v. Which is better???

www.ibanez.com is a good one.

If you have the money, all the people here (I think?) would say VWH. The trem is said to be more stable, and the guitar looks nicer, too... (that would by my main reason for buying one. LOL!)

Other than that, it's a case of 'go fishing' for yourself and find out. One man's honey may be another's poison.

Play both guitars and make an educated decision. Personally, I'd say 7VWH as many would agree. Good luck!

What is the difference between a Ferarri and a Volkswagen *555 is Korean made and missing the Edge/LoPro. That is the major difference.

Not a 555.

True on the scale of a "JEM". It's a fine instrument compared to a $125 hondo les paul copy. It's all relative.

Do a FORUM SEARCH in teh JEM topic area for 555 and many topic appear. Good luck... glen

That's right... although the 555 is almost crap compared to the 7xx models, they're much better than other models. For example, I couldn't find a Strat (except for Custom Shop or Signature models) that is so confortable and fast to play as a 555.

If you have money, go 7VWHs. They're great!

Steve Vai plays the Jem7VWH for most of his recording and concerts. *That's answer enough for me!

Glen, I suppose mentioning that a Volkswagen will probably spend most of its time being used and on the road instead of being in the garage wouldn't be very useful here?

If we're talking gas mileage, I would have to go with the VW all the way.
Another big difference in the guitars is the PRICE.

If you cant afford a VWH, then maybe the 555 is the better option, although I would recommend another RG series at the same price over the 555.

How about comparing a Passat to a unicycle? *Not based on looks, but performance and reliability.

I have a few suggestions:

If you go for the price then the 555 is the cheapest. But be very careful! Make sure you play one in a guitar store and if you find one you like then buy THAT ONE. Do not let them talk you into "the one in the back that's exactly like it" or letting them order one from the factory (you can still do that outside of the US market) for you. I made the mistake of getting one through the factory and boy was it a lemon... for my tastes and playing style anyways.

The 7VWh is the classic Vai guitar which, oddly enough was the EXACT reason I didn't want it. I am a die hard Vai fan but I didn't want it because it had HIM written all over it. I wanted my JEM to say ME and the VWH wouldn't do that. Of the two it is by far the better guitar though.

If it's price you are worried about though and you want a better guitar than the 555 go with the 7DBK. I own one and it is EXACTLY what I wanted in a JEM as far as playability and price - the best of both worlds IMHO.

The most important thing to do is make sure you play at least these three guitars if you can and then make a decission. No one can tell you what is right for you. You will know what's right when you pick it up and your hands fall in love.

Good luck!

LJ

I think Patrick hit it on the nose...if your lookin for playability at a cheap price go for a Jem7DBK those are awsome...the Jem55 is a good guitar but compared to other Jem's it's a totally meltdown. If you want something to keep for a long time go for a DBK or a VWH. But like Patrick said play em.....and if you do find a great 55 then buy THAT ONE.

rather than buying a JEM555, you'd probably be better off getting an RG with the H-S-H config for a couple of hundred$$ and then putting whatever p'up config in you like between Breeds, Evos and PAFs - you could have the best of everything without the price.

They have to pay Joe and Steve for every Jem they sell - that adds unnecessarily to the price. *

And if nothing else - look it the resale prices! *Jems rarely go anywhere but down in value. * Especially the 555s

If price is a factor, you may want to consider the RG570. They have the H-S-H configuration, and a rear routed basswood body. You can get a brand new one for $550 or less. The pick-ups are not as nice as the evo's, but those can always be added later.
