Lack of scallops on Jem fretboards - ... why are they not st

Does anyone know why different Jems have the 21~24th frets scalloped and some not... and I already know that Steve "designs" these guitars and have control over these details. There must be reason that they would leave it out.

Lack of scallops on Jem fretboards

Read the SPEC SHEET in Jemsite --> Guitar area for much info on this & the purpose of the scallops. Tone reasons aside, some inlay materials are harder to work with and not conducive to being scalloped. The real abalone inlays of the JEM10 are notable examples. IMHO since the UVs never featured the scalloping, their importance nowadays (especially w/ AANJ) is over-estimated... glen

Lack of scallops on Jem fretboards

Does anyone think it may be that the guitar is evolving with SSV? *The neck shape has changed (IMHO) the colors have been subdued, pickups have changed. *

Oh, wait doesn't the VWH have the scallops, but then again it's been in production for much longer than the BSBs and DBKs....

Lack of scallops on Jem fretboards

I agree with Glen. The AANJ allows me to get my big paw to the upper frets a lot easier than the block neck joints of older jems. The scallops allowed me to grab the string better but that was the only thing I noticed as far as benfits to them went. Oh...wait...they look cool

I love my DBK's neck. I can slide all over the thing and it has greatly improved my upper register playing due to the AANJ. I don't even miss the scallops.

i play a vwh and i think the scallops are brilliant, cos if you try bending the last note without the scallops, there isn't even half as much sustain as it is with the scallops. *and they feel great, you can really dig your fingers in, well they fit mine perfectly anyway

Hey guys, this is my first time posting, so hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get my Ibanez neck professionally scalloped. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well this isn't a good place to ask, another more active forum would have ben better, but it's your luck that I like to browse everything

www.lgmguitars.com (or the banner at the top) has prices for scallops
