Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

hello everyone, i just stumbled over here and saw this and thought id properly introduce myself.

I am Kevin Peace, 34 years old & living in Southwestern Ohio. I am part owner of a floorcovering business here and an avid 2nd time guitar player. I began taking lessons at the ripe age of 9 until I was 16, played in and out of cover bands until i was 22 when I did the the marraige thing and quit playing. Upon getting a divorce & my ex stealing all my equipment ( 2 Kramer American Pacer Custom Deluxe's, Marshall 1/2 stack with JCM head, Laney 1/2 stack with a head that has been too long to remember the model #, a frankenstrat, etc etc etc) I decided to begin playing again and good lord when your older and can afford what you always wanted, I definately went overboard .... lol ... currently my stable includes
1) 1995 Jackson Concept JSX94
2) 1995 Jackson Professional Stealth EX
3) 2000 Ibanez Prestige RG2020XTB
4) 2000 Ibanez Jem VWH
5) 2000 Ibanez RG7420
6) 1979 Martin D18 ( I think -- thats bad, ive owned this guitar since 1980 and i cant remember the model)
7) 2004 USA Ovation Balladeer Custom (bronze string with cedar top-- It was a Guitar Center special thing that the website doesnt offer)

Amp wise i have 2 setups
1) Bogner 4 x 12 angled cabinet, ADA MP-2 Preamp, Peavey Midi EQ, Alesis Midiverb 4 effects, Nady noisegate, Crown Poweramp with ernie ball volume and Morley Bad Horsie 2 wah, ADA Switching system (all 3 pedals)

2) Mesa Boogie Nomad 100 2 x 12 combo, ISP Decimator Noise reduction, Furman RV1 reverb housed in bottom of back of amp, Boss CS-2 Compressor/Sustainer, Visual Sound H2O Chorus / Echo, Ernie Ball Volume, and Budda Wah (pedals housed in an SKB case with loops and power built in)

I record Using Sonar 4 Producer with an M-Audio external soundcard with a Sony Vaio Computer.

I mod and luthier all my own instruments, and am in the process of prototyping my own setup of point to point wired "boutique" overdrive, and modulation pedals.

I think thats about it ... holler if you think i could be of any help to anyone ... By no means do I even come close to touching the tip of the iceberg of information, but, I have quite a bit of experience in noodle-ing around ... lol

Its a pleasure to be here

Kevin

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi there. I'm the new guy, the FNG if you will....I'm an RG560 owner, Breed Bridge and two Fast Track 1's, can switch all to single coil. Love this guitar, bought it new in 1989, still play it. I drool over JEMs, but will have to wait. Such is life. I just got a Marshall DSL401 and was wondering if anyone knows if these amps are supposed to get REALLY REALLY hot on the front face plate, especially near the master control section. I've had several amps, tube even, and never have experienced heat like this. Is it normal? Thanks, folks. Rich is right - Ibanez does rule!

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

OK, so that's where all the tubes are, but WOW this thing is very hot to the touch. I didn't finish my introduction, am new to all of this so here's the rest of my setup. RG560 (best neck ever, original Edge with locking studs), ART AB/Y run backwards so I can switch between the Ibanez and my Seagull acoustic w/ pup, Son of a Pitch tuner, origianl CryBaby, De Armond volume, early 1980's DOD 585 delay (soon to go), Danelectro Cool Cat chorus (soon to go)(both to be replaced, prob with Boss), to the DSL401 with the hot a** front plate. We're talking frying bacon here. Just got the amp, first Marshall, so still in learning mode. My Blues DeVille 410 just didn't crunch enough, though it's a great sounding amp for what it does. Got an old Peavey Classic from the 1970's, the REALLY old one with the all grey grill cloth, hybrid amp, 50w 410. This is before the VT series, kinda funky sounding, but it was my first amp. I play rock, metal sounding rock, art rock, prog rock, country, blues, folk, classical, whatever. Not good at jazz, though. Been playing about 30 yrs. Yeah, I'm 40, and let me tell you that ain't old! Wish I had my hair back, though. Glad bald and shaved heads are in style! Used to play in cover band all over West Tennessee, now just write and record on my Mac with GarageBand, best deal I've ever found. $70 and you can do a LOT. Drummer emails me drum tracks and I do the rest. Fun, really fun. Also have a 1970's Les Paul Custom Cherry Sunburst (with a Kahler trem), a Samick Tele copy (soon to have a Warmoth neck), the Seagull steel string, Alvarez Yairi nylon string, and a Samick 5 string bass, very nice bass. So, that's me. Nice to meet you.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

HI There,
I'm Oliver I'm 28 and I've been playing guitar since I was 13 but I was really into it since I was 5. I always wanted an Electric guitar when I was a young kid and my Dad used to tell me " Get good on the acoustic and I'll buy you an electric 'cause they're as expensive as cars" I always thought oh my I'll never have an electric but one good day My Aunt gave me one as a gift and it took off from there, I originally picked it up because I wanted to play nothing but Michael Schenker and Scorpions stuff I also really liked David Gilmour but later I found George LYnch and Yngwie Malmsteen I really spent a long time playing these guys stuff then it was when I discovered Alcatrazz that I found a formidable guitar player and the reason I'm in this forum now Mr Steve Vai. I really find this forum to be a great learning tool I have found a lot of valuable information here and a lot of goof off too!!! lol. All in all a great site to become a member of and oh yes... I couldn't really be an official member of the JEMSITE if I didn't own one well worry not I have a few and I shall post a thread in the future with pics of my girls. oh well I guess that's all for now folks over and out

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi everyone. i've been on this site for a little while now and thought i'd finally introduce myself. My name is shawn and i am 41. I started out playing music in the 3rd grade on the viola. As i got older i ended up playing french horn, drums, bass guitar, some keyboard and then finally guitar. i went to Berklee College of Music in Boston massachusetts. I only lasted one year which is my biggest regret of my life.....what are you gonna do. Anyway i've owned a 1980 Les Paul, a 1985 jap strat, a 1987 model 6 Charvel, a Custom Shop 1958 Strat, 2 American Strats and last and best a 2004 Jem 7vwh. My heros on guitar are although not in any special order are Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Kieth Richards, Yngwie, Satch,, Eddie Van Halen and the main man himself Steve Vai. i still have the "Attitude Song" sound sheet from guitar player 1984. Oh one other great player for me is Zakk Wylde....B.L.S. Anyway just wanted to say hi. This is one hell of a web site. see ya

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey, I'm 16 and I've come to this site becuase I love music and guitars. Specifically I've come here for info, knowlage and chat on Ibanez 7-strings. Seems like a good place, and at all the other guitar forums I got to you hear "I heard this on jemsite..." a lot so I decided to forgo the middle man and come to the real thing I play guitar, bass, and drums and I love metal, and pretty much any kind of music with heart in it.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey all
My name is Luciano, I have played Ibanez guitars exclusivly since 1985. My first was a Steve Lukather model (remember those?) I've owned an Artist Ar 300 which I traded in in 87 for an RG 550 DY. I've played RG's ever since. Currently I have a 92 RGT650 with the "gravure top", a 96 Korean RG470DX which even though it has the Lo Pro trsII is my current fave. Lastly I have an RG320dxqm, which dispite being the "cheapo" (indonesian) model is still a pretty kick ass axe. Like some of you (who have yet to fullfill his/her dream of obtaining a JEM), I dream of swirls and EVO pick-ups, but If it's an RG, chances are you didn't go wrong buying it. Anyway, kudo's for such a great site and maybe someday I might get that swirl! (lol)
thanx
