Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello....My name is Dave and I am a 48 year old beginner from the burbs of Boston. After trying to teach myself to play guitar using the internet off and on for about 10 years, I found an instructor who has the same taste in music as I do, and is an absolutely amazing guitarist. There was just too much information online honestly, and too many websites offering lessons. Some of them are great, but I just wasn't learning like I wanted to. My own fault really.

So, back in December, while watching a band in a local bar, I spoke to the guitarist between sets to compliment him on his playing and to buy the CD's he was selling. Without sounding super dramatic, that conversation changed my life as far as playing the guitar. The guitarist in the band was Ethan Brosh, and he is now my instructor. If you've never heard or Ethan, check out YouTube. He's a great player, and an even better person. Just a nice guy.

So, I started taking lessons using the RG120 I had bought back in 2007. It was then I decided I wanted to upgrade and get a better guitar. And by better, I'm by no means saying the 120 is bad, I just wanted something a little more high end. I asked for Ethan's advice on this, and the only guitar he mentioned by brand and model, was the RG550. So the hunt began, and after 2 close calls of buying the wrong model, I am now the proud owner of a 1987 RG550 FA. I love it, and can now appreciate the difference in playing a high end guitar. And to further enforce my decision, Ethan played it for about 10 minutes one day (which I truly regret not recording) and he said I got an awesome guitar and a great deal. Kind of pathetic how much his approval meant to me.

So, here I am. Like anything else, there are so many options as far as forums to join, and I found that any time I searched online with a question regarding Ibanez guitars, this was the website that came up in my searches the most, and always gave me the information I was looking for, so it only made sense to become a member.

I'm really looking forward to learning as much as I can about my new guitar, and guitars in general. I'll try to use the "search" method as much as possible so I don't post questions that have been asked a million times. I will also try to keep my stupid questions to a minimum. Not sure how that will work, but I'll try.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for having me.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

My name is Scott, I forgot my original login from years ago. I still have my s470 that I bought back in high school. I regret selling my third Ibanez which was a blue sparkle RG570. But I might be buying a UCEW which ironically was sitting next to my S 20+years ago at the guitar shop

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hi, new user here (well, maybe registered in 2006 and never ended up spending much time here LOL) and have played and owned countless Ibanez Guitars over the years. Currently I only have a Reb Beach Voyager and the dream guitar I've always wanted, a real vintage Destroyer DT-555 which I've now had for a few days. Its going to need some TLC so I am here to hopefully read up on the guitar and interact with anyone who has any experience with these particular instruments.

Hey yall. This Ryan Wham. Yes, that is my last name. I know nobody cares about my lost and found passion for Vai and his guitars. What i do want to get out is that I recently purchased(im sure some saw it on ebay) the UV777GR that has the black Pyramids. I was hoping it was just magic marker, or something easy to get off. Turns out some ahole in S.America had it "professionally " blacked out then polyurethaned over it! I'm not even sure if the color inlays are still in there. At a glance it looks good but up close it looks like crap. I bought it hoping to restore it to its og state. It also has EMG 707's in it. I called Ibanez to see about having them restore it but no such luck here. If anyone here cares about it at all, id love some input. I just joined Jemsite today. I will try to post some pics of it asap. Hopefully "we" can get her back. Thanks! Ryan

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey Everyone, my name is Bryan, i`m from Australia. I joined this forum hoping to get some honest advice in regards to unfortunately having to sell my JS100. I know that it`s a beautiful guitar and it means a lot to me, especially now since Satch signed it during a meet and greet, but sadly i do have to part with it for financial reasons... I have had it listed for sale on other sites but I am completely puzzled as to why no one has shown any interest towards it...I`m just wanting to see what the thoughts and opinions are out there...It`s in amazing condition, 21years old, one owner only, is stock apart from the upgrading of the pickups and has Satriani`s signature scrawled across the top of the body. The signature had begun to rub off slightly…which is when i completely stopped playing it as i didn`t want to lose anymore of the signature.
I am wondering if the signature is the reason buyer`s are staying away??? The thing is the signature could easily be removed, but i`m not prepared to do that in case there is a collector out there...

There are no chips or cracks on the body or the neck
No belt-buckle scratches on the body
The headstock has light scratches(from replacing strings)
The neck is straight
The only complaint i ever had with the guitar was the Lo-Trs Trem. It has never stayed in-tune properly when using the whammy bar...needless to say i didn`t use the whammy bar and just played it like a fixed bridge and it was absolutely fine.
It is completely stock other than the original pickups being upgraded and replaced with Dimarzio`s.

The Guitar Details are:
1996 Joe Satriani JS100 Ibanez (Transparent Red TR)
Made in Korea
serial number: C7095396
22 Frets Medium
Pickups replaced with Dimarzio PAF PRO (neck) and Dimarzio FRED (bridge)
Dimarzio Clip-Lock Strap System
Ibanez Lo TRS II Tremelo System
Whammy Bar included
Ibanez Moulded Hard Case included
***Signed by Joe Satriani - no certificate of authenticity..I had this signed by Satch during a meet and greet session…I have proof in showing photo that was taken at that time..

I had it listed for $900 AUD (moulded hard case included)

i can`t upload the photos at this time for some reason but for further info or photos please PM me..
thanks in advance,

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hey, new guy Ken.

I own a couple Prestige guitars and now a Jem77. I'd love to own a triple 7 some day.

Been playing guitar for 17 years, started because I wanted to pick up girls, and I ended up picking up more guitars.

I won't list all my other gear, but my amp head of choice is my Triamp MK3

Nice to meet ya.

Cool Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello everyone! I've been playing guitar for 46 years. I'm currently in a 70's & 80's classic rock cover band called, 3rd Element. The band has been around for 16 years and still Rockin'! Also, I got quite a collection of guitars. Not so much in numbers as what I have in my collection. My guitars are: 1968 Musicraft Messenger, 1970 Micro-Frets Signature, 1977 Gibson L5S, 2006 Veleno Original. Those are my Mark Farner collection guitars that I've always coveted as a young Grand Funk Railroad/Mark Farner fan. I also have: 2010 Fender-made EVH Wolfgang USA, Mean Streets EVH Relic'd Frankenstein, Mean Streets EVH Relic'd Kramer 5150, 2016 Gibson Les Paul Standard T, 2014 Custom Ibanez JEM 77MC by Perle Guitars, 2008 Ibanez JS1200, 1995 Ovation CS347 Celebrity Deluxe and a Tokai Z-Talbo Jr. For my amp, I have a Peavey 5150 II half stack and combo. Currently, I been using my Vox ToneLab EX for my amp with various floor pedals. I have also pre-ordered the 30th Anniversary JEM 777 LNG from AMS. I've been told that those guitars will not be sent out until June 1st. I ordered it January 29th, so I'm chomping at the bit for that guitar. I used to own a 1988 Ibanez JEM 777DY and an 1990 Ibanez Universe 77MC (ATD Swirl), but sold them both to buy the Veleno Original. I've been kicking myself to this day for selling the Universe 77MC. I really miss that guitar. As you can tell, I'm a BIG Mark Farner, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani & Steve Vai fan.

Hi everyone, my name is David, I am the happy owner of a Jem 77 BFP. I can't believe I found a site that is entirely dedicated to Jem guitars. I am glad to join this community of Jem owners.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Ben from Belgium, here. I'm a professional musician. I have several different guitars (custom strat, G&L strat and tele, LP, ES335, jazzmaster, Gretsch 6120...). I'm not really accustomed to use forums but let's give it try!
I'm mainly here to sell an old axe of mine. I'll be posting the add really soon.

Re: New members - introduce yourself here.

Hello, my name is Nick, and I'm an Ibanez-aholic.

Is this the right place?

I have a white 1991 RG550 Prestige (Japanese model). It's been my main weapon of choice ever since I got it over 10 years ago.

I haven't had a real need for another electric, but I do want to expand my collection.

It plays great and sounds amazing.
